(Reuters) – The European Union on Monday imposed a sixth spherical of sanctions on Myanmar over the 2021 army coup that overthrew elected chief Aung Suu Kyi and sparked world outrage.
The new sanctions goal 9 individuals and 7 entities and embody the power minister, outstanding businessmen, high-ranking officers and departments of the defence ministry and personal firms supplying gas, arms and funds to the army.
In whole, EU sanctions now apply to 93 people and 18 entities within the Southeast Asian nation.
Myanmar has been in turmoil for the reason that coup with a resistance motion combating the army on a number of fronts after a bloody crackdown on opponents that noticed Western sanctions reimposed.
