Dubai International Financial Centre Courts (DIFC Courts) has implemented a new blockchain-based system that allows for the verification of the authenticity of court decisions and hearing records within seconds. The new system operates on Avalanche’s C-Chain network and aims to enhance document security by keeping sensitive information off-chain.

Court Documents Can Be Verified in Seconds!

According to official statements from Avalanche and DIFC Courts, court rulings and hearing records are linked to unique and non-transferable digital identification information.

The system, which utilizes NFT technology, allows for verification of whether documents were genuinely prepared by the court and whether they have been subsequently altered.

While the system stores sensitive document text and party information off-chain, it only records each document’s unique cryptographic fingerprint or hash and non-transferable digital identifiers on-chain.

The cryptographic fingerprint generated from the document’s digital file is linked to the digital identity information recorded on Avalanche’s public blockchain network, C-Chain. Any subsequent changes to the document will cause the verification process to fail.

Avalanche-Based System Will Protect Privacy!

One of the system’s key features is that the content of court documents and confidential case information are not stored on the blockchain. This prevents sensitive data from being shared on the public network during the verification process. DIFC Courts Director Omar Al Mheiri stated that this application extends the reliability of court documents beyond geographical boundaries.

It was also stated that the new system is expected to speed up document verification processes, especially for individuals and businesses that present court decisions to banks, public institutions, and other courts in different countries.

Ava Labs Chief Operating Officer John Nahas said, “The most powerful blockchain applications are often those that people barely notice. DIFC Courts are using Avalanche to ensure critical documents can be verified across borders in seconds while keeping confidential information off-chain. This is a powerful example of trusted institutions adopting purpose-built infrastructure without asking people to change how they interact with it.”
