That figure builds on a broader trend: Crypto News Navigator reported the network had already hit one billion transactions in a single quarter during Q1 2026, supported by roughly 980,000 deployed canister smart contracts and 1.24 million active wallets.
The throughput milestone is notable in context. As the Internet Computer's own documentation notes, ICP transactions tend to be computationally richer than those on most other chains, meaning raw transaction counts can understate the actual work being done on the network.
Beyond raw throughput, the month brought a string of product milestones. The launch of the $ICP MCP beta introduced a direct interface between AI agents and ICP canisters.
