Abu Dhabi’s leading sovereign wealth funds maintained their hundreds of millions of dollars in positions in BlackRock’s spot Bitcoin ETF, iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT), for the second quarter.
According to a 13F filing submitted to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Mubadala Investment Company held 14,721,917 shares of IBIT as of June 30. The value of this position at the end of the quarter was recorded as approximately $490.1 million.
Mubadala’s IBIT holdings remained unchanged compared to the previous quarter. Its Bitcoin ETF investment is the second largest position by value among the assets listed in the fund’s 13F disclosure.
Mubadala’s largest portfolio position consists of GlobalFoundries shares, valued at approximately $32.9 billion.
On the other hand, another Abu Dhabi-based state investment organization, the Abu Dhabi Investment Council (ADIC), did not change its investment in IBIT in the second quarter.
According to the 13F filing submitted by ADIC the previous day, the company continued to hold 8,218,712 IBIT shares as of June 30. The total value of these shares was reported to be approximately $273.6 million.
IBIT stands out as by far the largest investment position in ADIC’s 13F portfolio.
Thus, the combined position of the two Abu Dhabi state investment firms in BlackRock’s spot Bitcoin ETF reaches approximately 22.94 million IBIT shares, or approximately $763.7 million at reported value.
