TLDR

  • Alchemy integrated its AgentCard service with Visa Intelligent Commerce.
  • AI agents can now make online purchases using Visa-backed payment credentials.
  • AgentCard supports travel bookings, grocery orders, and subscription renewals.
  • The platform works with AI models from providers including OpenAI and Anthropic.
  • Visa-issued tokens allow agents to use existing rewards, credit lines, and card benefits.

Alchemy has connected its AgentCard service to the Visa network, giving AI agents payment and identity capabilities. The integration allows AI agents to complete online purchases using Visa-backed payment credentials. As a result, agents can handle transactions such as travel bookings, grocery orders, and subscription renewals without manual checkout steps.

Alchemy Expands AgentCard With Visa Payment Access

Alchemy announced that AgentCard now works with Visa Intelligent Commerce. The update allows AI agents to initiate and complete purchases on behalf of consumers. As a result, the service combines payment execution with identity management tools.

AgentCard functions as a virtual spending card and identity layer for AI agents. The service supports agents built on different AI models and platforms. It also works with systems from providers including OpenAI and Anthropic.

Nikil Viswanathan, co-founder and CEO of Alchemy, described the move as part of a broader technology shift.

“Every major computing shift has produced a new kind of economic actor,” he said.

He added that AI agents require access to the global economy, and AgentCard provides that access.

Through the Visa connection, agents can transact using Visa-issued tokens. Consequently, users can keep existing rewards, credit lines, and card benefits. The system also avoids creating separate payment accounts or credentials.

AgentCard includes a routing layer for transaction processing. The platform selects the most suitable payment option for each purchase. When needed, it can use single-use tokens if agent-native payment protocols are unavailable.

Visa Integration Adds Identity Features for AI Agents

The service also gives each AI agent a dedicated identity package. Every provisioned agent receives a unique email address through agentcard.email. In addition, each agent receives a separate phone number.

These credentials allow agents to register for online services. They can also receive verification messages and complete account-related processes. As a result, agents can operate using identity tools similar to those used by people.

The integration supports a growing category known as agentic commerce. Companies including Visa, Stripe, and Mastercard continue developing payment systems for AI-driven transactions. AgentCard joins this segment by combining payments and identity within a single platform.

According to Alchemy, the identity layer supports tasks that require account verification. Agents can sign up for services and manage required authentication steps. This capability works alongside the payment functions enabled through Visa.

Visa-issued tokens remain at the center of the transaction process. Therefore, agents can access existing payment credentials without exposing account details. The arrangement allows purchases while maintaining established card benefits and payment access.

Alchemy said AgentCard supports online transactions across multiple use cases. Examples include booking vacations, ordering groceries, and renewing subscriptions. The company stated that these actions can occur without consumers interacting with checkout screens.
