In Brief:
- Large XRP withdrawals rose from 54 million to 231 million tokens within 48 hours, representing a 4.3-times increase across exchanges.
- Binance led XRP futures volume as four major exchanges generated $11.37 billion, exceeding February’s comparable peak by approximately 17.6 percent.
- Exchange outflows may reduce available selling supply, although wallet movements require confirmation before analysts can classify them as investor accumulation.
XRP recorded an increase in large exchange withdrawals as holders moved 231 million tokens across platforms. The two-day surge expanded large outflows by 4.3 times while XRP gained approximately 45%.
According to CryptoQuant analyst Amr Taha, transfers exceeding one million XRP reached 54 million XRP on August 19. That figure increased to 114 million XRP on August 20 before doubling again to 231 million XRP on August 21.
The movement represented an increase of 328% within 48 hours, placing large withdrawals among their highest levels. Binance and Coinbase contributed heavily, although other exchanges also recorded transfers during the rise in activity.
Why XRP Withdrawals Increased So Quickly
Large exchange withdrawals indicate that investors are moving assets into private wallets, custody, or storage. Consequently, those transfers can reduce the amount of XRP available for immediate selling across cryptocurrency trading platforms.
However, outflows do not always represent investor accumulation because exchanges reorganize wallets or transfer assets between custody addresses. Some tokens may move toward other trading venues, meaning wallet destinations remain essential for confirming the purpose.

The timing provided context becauseXRP climbed from $1.00 toward $1.50 while large transfers accelerated. Futures activity reached its highest level in more than six months shortly after withdrawals recorded their largest increase.
Futures Volume Supports Broader Market Activity
XRP futures volume across Binance, Bybit, OKX, and Bitget reached a combined $11.37 billion on August 22. Binance led with $5.63 billion, followed by Bybit at $2.35 billion and OKX at $2.04 billion.
Bitget recorded another $1.35 billion, completing a total that surpassed the February 5 level by approximately 17.6%. Bitget and OKX posted the strongest increases, rising 60.7% and 51.1%, respectively.

The sequence suggests large XRP transfers preceded increased derivatives participation as traders responded to stronger price momentum. Nevertheless, futures volume includes long and short transactions, so turnover cannot independently confirm bullish positioning.
Open interest, funding rates, liquidations, and wallet destinations would provide greater clarity about the activity. For now, combined withdrawals, rising prices, and expanded futures volume show greater XRP market participation across major exchanges.
