AMD Stock Faces Earnings Volatility

The options estimate points to the size of a possible price change, not whether shares will rise or fall. Actual reactions have varied widely across earnings announcements. The estimate can change before earnings.

AMD stock moved more than expected after just two of the past eight reports. The stock gained 25.9% in May against an expected 7% move. It fell 20.3% in February, compared with an expected 6.1% change. In August, shares lost 2.6%, below the 7.8% estimate. Shares also fell 1.3% after the November 2025 report, compared with a 6.5% estimate.

Meta Partnership Includes Equity Investment

On Tuesday, AMD said it would invest $1 billion in Meta’s share offering. The announcement follows Meta’s plans to raise up to $95 billion for AI expansion, including an initial offering of common and preferred shares. Meta plans to fund additional computing capacity.

AMD and Meta also widened their partnership covering processors, graphics chips, networking and software. The companies are working on systems for training AI models and running services used across Meta’s platforms. An earlier deal covers six gigawatts of graphics processors.

Helios Systems Support Meta AI Models

AMD said its first Helios rack-scale systems are installed at Meta and undergoing tests before broader use. Its EPYC processors already support Meta’s Muse AI assistant, while Instinct graphics chips handle other computing tasks. Meta already uses millions of EPYC processors.

The partnership includes software support for Muse Spark Open and Muse Glimmer. It comes as Nvidia shares gained amid new AI infrastructure financing, with technology companies announcing fresh spending and equipment agreements this week. AMD and Meta are also improving shared AI software.

Other suppliers are also reporting stronger demand for computing equipment. Celestica’s third-quarter revenue rose 83% to $5.83 billion, according to its Monday results, as cloud infrastructure sales increased. The figures cover a separate business and do not predict AMD’s performance. AMD’s November earnings report will provide updated figures for its chip businesses and management’s latest outlook.
