In a post on X, Ali Charts said XRP appears to be breaking out of a pattern he had been tracking for days. He pointed to a sustained close above $1.38 as the level that would confirm the move, with $1.60 emerging as the next upside target if that resistance gives way.
The setup builds on an earlier call from the same analyst, who had flagged the $1.31 to $1.35 range as a critical support zone.
As long as XRP held that band, he said he'd be watching for price to grind toward the apex of a triangle pattern, with $1.38 marked as the key confirmation point.
"A decisive break above that resistance could trigger the bullish breakout and open the door to $1.60," he wrote.
What traders are watching
Triangle patterns are typically viewed by chart-based traders as consolidation phases that precede a sharp directional move, and the tighter the range gets, the more significant the eventual breakout is often expected to be.

For XRP, that means the next few sessions could prove pivotal, with the $1.38 mark serving as the line in the sand between continued consolidation and a fresh leg higher.
As of this writing, XRP remains within its recent trading range, with traders now watching closely to see whether momentum builds enough to test that resistance level in the coming days.
The bigger bull case
The near-term breakout chatter adds to a longer-running debate about XRP's ceiling. Another analyst who posts as xrpl_Adam has argued that the token's most aggressive price targets don't hold up on payment volume alone, since a coin that settles quickly gets reused throughout the day.
His case instead rests on collateral. If major institutions start parking XRP against loans, derivatives, or cross-border settlements the way they currently use Treasuries, that would create sticky, structural demand rather than the fleeting kind tied to payments.
He's pointed to Ripple's 2023 court win, where XRP was found not to be a security, as removing the main compliance hurdle standing in the way of that scenario.
Whether Charts' short-term breakout plays out or not, it's this bigger institutional thesis that bulls are counting on to justify XRP's more extreme long-term targets.
