Popular technical analyst ChartNerd (@ChartNerdTA) posted a striking message about XRP on X. “If you can’t stomach $XRP at a buck, you don’t deserve it at $5-$8.” The post referenced an earlier analysis he published on October 10, in which he laid out the full case for those price targets.

Breaking Down the $5-$8 Target

ChartNerd has spent the past few months debunking $1,000 XRP price targets. Instead, he believes the asset could hit the $5-$8 range. He opened the video with a clear disclaimer, calling the analysis “a complete shot in the dark” and stressing that nothing he said was financial advice.

He identified a multi-year compression pattern on XRP’s long-term chart. Higher lows have built since 2020, XRP broke that structure in November 2024, rallied to an all-time high of $3.65 in July 2025, and has since corrected roughly 73%. ChartNerd noted that correction depth has only occurred around four other times in XRP’s history.

His $5-$8 target came from Fibonacci extension levels with confluence at $8 across two separate measurements. He described it as his “conservative structure for the next sort of couple of years.”

Conviction Behind the Post

The new post on X reinforced that analysis. ChartNerd’s message is that XRP at current prices represents an opportunity, and holders who can’t hold on around $1 and exit early will miss the move he has been tracking for years.

The post drew significant engagement. ChartNerd has a history of publishing long-form technical content on XRP, and the $5-$8 target has been a consistent reference point in his analysis.

How the Community Responded

One commenter pushed back with a substantive critique, arguing that analysts have been presenting the same technical setups and the same price targets for a decade without attaching dates to their predictions. He suggested that XRP’s price behavior has historically mirrored Bitcoin’s movement and that $5-$8 may underestimate where XRP could ultimately go.

Another commenter expressed interest in using any price dip toward $1 as a buying opportunity while targeting the $25-$50 range, significantly above ChartNerd’s projection. One commenter described his own position as one of patience, committed to holding until the market resolves.

ChartNerd has maintained the $5-$8 position, and the asset’s performance over the next few years will settle the debate within the community.
