Crypto analyst Steph Is Crypto has raised concerns about XRP’s short-term price action. He published a video alongside a tweet reading, “XRP. there’s a big problem. a very big one.” At the time of recording, XRP traded around $1.30.

The analyst noted that positive developments surrounding XRP including an indirect Nasdaq listing, spot ETFs, and regulatory clarity,  have failed to push the price higher.

The EMA Ribbon Breakdown

Steph Is Crypto directed attention to the weekly chart and its EMA ribbon levels. The ribbons sit at approximately $1.36–$1.37.

XRP was trading below that range as the weekly candle prepared to close. He stated that a close at $1.30 or $1.29 would confirm a breakdown below the ribbons. He called this “not a good look here in the short term.”

What History Shows

Steph Is Crypto conducted a historical analysis of XRP stretching back to 2012. He tracked the number of days between each bear market low and the first meaningful pump above the EMA ribbons.

After the 2014 bear market low, XRP took 147 days to produce that first pump. After the January 2017 low, the asset rallied above the ribbons in approximately 56 days. The March 2020 low preceded a move from roughly $0.27 to $0.77 — a process that took 252 days. After the June 2022 low, XRP needed 392 days.

Where XRP Stands Now

Steph Is Crypto identified July 2025 as the most recent bull run high and suggested the bear market low may already be in. He noted that XRP was already approximately 56 days from that low at the time of recording. In the best-case scenario, that puts a reversal within reach immediately. In the worst-case, the 392-day pattern from 2022 would push a meaningful rally out to September 2027.

What Steph Is Crypto Is Watching

Steph Is Crypto said he needs to see XRP reclaim the $1.36–$1.37 range before he considers the trend reversed. “As long as we’re staying below that level I would stay cautious,” he said.

He added that XRP could still form a double bottom or a higher low before any sustained move higher. He described himself as bullish on the medium and long term, with short-term timing remaining uncertain.
