Former kickboxer and controversial social media personality Andrew Tate and his brother Tristan got arrested in Miami, Florida, on July 19 on a sealed warrant, the U.S. Marshals Service said.

The U.K. government will seek their extradition on rape and sex trafficking charges. The UK’s Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) said it will prosecute Andrew Tate on seven counts of rape, three for sex trafficking, three for assault, and 19 additional charges for offences relating to indecent images of a child and extreme pornography.

The brothers deny the charges brought against them.

Tate's long relationship with crypto

Andrew Tate, notorious for his misogynistic views, has built a significant following on social media by posting about his lavish lifestyle and cryptocurrency.

In fact, his crypto holdings drew attention when the Romanian authorities seized his assets, including Bitcoin wallets attributed to him, in 2023 while investigating the charges of human trafficking, money laundering, and sexual offenses against him.

In June 2024, the manosphere influencer announced his support for Daddy Tate (DADDY), a Solana-based meme coin, in order to support patriarchy.

A meme coin is a cryptocurrency inspired by viral internet jokes, trends, or pop culture figures rather than traditional financial metrics. These coins lack real-world utility and their value depends entirely on community hype, social media momentum, and speculation.

DADDY crashes nearly 50% since Tate's arrest in Miami

Though Tate supported the meme coin to boost his online presence and make profits, DADDY has lost more than 95% of its value since launch.

In fact, the coin has lost nearly 50% of its value since his arrest in Florida, U.S., on July 19.

The meme coin hit the all-time high (ATH) of $0.2886 on June 14, 2024, around its launch. When Tate got arrested on July 19, it was trading at $0.0148.

DADDY was trading at $0.007916 at the time of writing, 46.5% down since Tate's arrest Sunday.
