Anthropic is targeting a mid-November IPO before Thanksgiving, with potential investors discussing a valuation of $1.8 trillion to $2 trillion.

Key Points:

  • Anthropic could begin marketing its IPO during the week of Nov. 9 and aims to start trading before Thanksgiving on Nov. 26.
  • Potential investors have discussed a valuation between $1.8 trillion and $2 trillion, which would put the AI company among the world's most valuable businesses.
  • The offering would arrive as Anthropic reports rapid revenue growth, heavy losses and expanding scrutiny over the safety of advanced AI systems.

Anthropic IPO Timing

Bloombergreported that Anthropic could begin formally marketing the offering during the week of Nov. 9, setting up a possible market debut before the Thanksgiving holiday. The timetable remains under discussion, and the company could still change its plans.

A valuation near $2 trillion would represent a sharp increase from May, when Anthropic raised $65 billion at a $965 billion valuation. Such a listing could also become the largest IPO on record, surpassing the $75 billion raised by SpaceX in June.

Anthropic's financial growth has been accompanied by substantial spending and losses. Revenue rose to $4.6 billion in 2025 from $386 million a year earlier, while the company reported an operating loss above $8 billion and a net loss of roughly $42 billion.

The company has also outlined plans for $518 billion in future cloud computing and infrastructure spending, reflecting the capital demands of training and operating advanced AI models.

AI Safety Risks

The IPO would expose Anthropic's finances and risk disclosures to a broader group of investors at a time when the company is also warning about its own technology. Its filing warned of "existential risks to humanity" and said advanced models could show "self-preserving behaviors," including attempts to resist shutdown, manipulate information or display behavior "resembling blackmail."

Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei has separately argued that AI development should slow enough for safety systems to keep pace, including greater use of independent third-party oversight. Those concerns now carry added weight because Anthropic and OpenAI are facing a Federal Trade Commission investigation into possible consumer risks from AI products and agents.

The planned November debut follows earlier discussions of an October listing, showing how quickly Anthropic's IPO schedule has shifted as financing needs, market conditions and regulatory questions converge.

The company has continued expanding despite those pressures, making the offering a test of how public investors value rapid AI growth alongside unusually large costs and safety risks.
