TRON posted one of its strongest quarters on record for stablecoin activity, but investor appetite for the first US spot $TRX exchange-traded fund has so far been muted.
According to @nansen_ai, the @justinsuntron-founded and @trondao-governed layer-1 network settled $2.21 trillion in stablecoins in Q3 2026, up 5.1% from the previous quarter. Average daily settlement reached $24.05 billion, and cumulative transaction volume passed $30 trillion as of September 23.
TRON network activity in Q3
Nansen data shows TRON processed about 1.07 billion successful transactions over the quarter, averaging roughly 11.7 million a day. The network also averaged about 3.7 million daily active addresses. Nansen described TRON as the dominant rail for USDT transfers during the period.
Other figures from TRON DAO's State of TRON Q3 2026 report point the same way. Crypto Briefing reported that average monthly active addresses rose 9.8% to 18 million, while total value locked, including staking, stood at $28.21 billion. NewsBTC, citing CoinDesk and Nansen, said TRON accounted for roughly 73% of stablecoin transfer volume at the end of the quarter.
There are caveats. Crypto.news noted that Nansen's report does not split settlement between payments and exchange-related transfers, and that Binance and OKX were among the busiest labelled entities. Settlement volume therefore says little on its own about retail or commercial payment use.
Canary TRX ETF sees little demand
Canary Capital launched the Canary Staked TRX ETF (TRXS) on Cboe BZX on September 9, 2026. According to Crypto Briefing, it was the first US ETF to offer direct spot exposure to TRX, and it stakes more than 90% of its holdings. It charges a 1.10% annual sponsor fee, which is higher than the fees on most US spot bitcoin ETFs, which have no staking component.
Flows have been thin. TokenPost, citing SoSoValue data, reported that TRXS recorded no net flows for a 27th consecutive trading day on October 22. Cumulative net inflows stood at $491,056, with net assets of $49.18 million, or about 0.16% of TRX's market capitalization. The fund had roughly $50 million in net assets at launch, according to Canary data cited by Incrypted, so assets have barely moved.
The gap between network usage and ETF demand is notable, though the two measure different things. Stablecoin settlement reflects activity on the chain, not demand for the TRX token itself. TRX is used mainly to pay network fees and for staking, and much of the stablecoin traffic involves USDT rather than TRX. Whether the ETF draws more interest may depend on price momentum and on how institutional investors weigh a fee-heavy staking product.
