Aviva Investors has launched a tokenized share class of its Sterling (GBP) Liquidity Fund on the XRP Ledger (XRPL), according to a @Ripple press release. The fund is the asset manager's largest, with roughly £22 billion in assets under management. It is also the firm's second tokenized fund on the $XRP Ledger.

Second tokenized fund after July dollar launch

The sterling share class follows a tokenized share class of the Aviva Investors US Dollar Liquidity Fund, announced on 29 July 2026 with Ripple. That product was the first tokenization of an Aviva Investors fund and followed a partnership between the two firms announced in February.

The new share class uses a "digital twin" structure, in which fund holdings are represented on the XRP Ledger while the existing off-chain fund and its regulated framework stay in place, crypto.news reported when describing the dollar fund's design. BNY Mellon remains the fund's custodian. Komainu provides digital asset custody support and Licuido supplies tokenization infrastructure, according to Finwire.

Aviva said the arrangement preserves the investment objective, risk profile, liquidity characteristics and regulatory protections available to conventional shareholders, crypto.news reported.

What the £22 billion figure means

The £22 billion figure refers to the entire Sterling Liquidity Fund, not the amount held in tokenized form. Aviva has invested £50 million in the new sterling offering, and combined investment across its two tokenized share classes is above £86 million, according to crypto.news. That is a small fraction of the sterling fund's total assets.

Access is also limited. Eligible investors with approved digital wallets can use the new class, and the announcement does not describe a public exchange listing for anyone with an XRPL wallet, Finwire noted. Buying a fund share class is also not the same as buying $XRP.

Ripple said in its release that XRPL has processed more than 4 billion transactions since 2012, supports nearly 8 million active wallets and is maintained by more than 130 independent validators. Mark Versey, CEO of Aviva Investors, said tokenized funds can increase efficiency and ultimately lead to improved client outcomes.

The launch adds to a growing set of regulated money market products moving onto public blockchains, with the sterling fund bringing Aviva's biggest product into that group one fund at a time.
