@axisrobotics has officially introduced $AXIS, the utility token powering its Physical AI data engine on @base. The token generation event marks a new chapter for a project that has quietly built one of the more active decentralised applications on Coinbase's layer-2 network.
Axis Robotics describes itself as the leading Base-native Compounding Data Engine for Physical AI. Since launching on Base in March 2026, it has scaled to over 5.5 million trajectories from more than 200,000 contributors and ranked as a top-two DApp on Base.
The company crowdsources training data for robots through browser simulations and a mobile app, recording verified contributions on Base.Accepted trajectories receive unique Data IDs recorded on Base, establishing verifiable ownership and provenance, while contributors are rewarded through a Train-to-Earn model.
Community Sale and Funding
The community sale, hosted by Sonar by EchoDot, offered 10 million $AXIS tokens at $0.10 each, representing 1% of the total supply. The sale was open to qualified participants with a minimum investment of $100 and a maximum of $100,000 in USDC on Base, with the subscription period running from September 21 to 28.Tokens are set to unlock at 10% upon TGE, with the remainder released according to the project's published vesting schedule.
The project previously raised $12 million in a seed round led by Hack VC on July 27, with participation from Nomad Capital, Pi Network Ventures, 10K Ventures, and several angel investors. The investment is intended to expand Axis's end-to-end system for generating large volumes of diverse, structured robotic training data, addressing a gap that physical AI still faces: while language models draw on vast internet text, robotic systems require billions of high-quality human-physical interaction trajectories.
Following the seed round, the company outlined plans to deploy an egocentric data pipeline, expand simulation to more robot embodiments, and launch a large-scale post-training dataset based on human-gated DAgger by the end of the year.
