In Brief:

  • Ripple expanded its Water.org partnership with $6 million in funding, reducing payment fees and improving settlement speeds across Latin America.
  • Water.org secured $1.25 million in RLUSD funding to expand WaterCredit financing across Indonesia, the Philippines, and Uganda through stablecoin payments.
  • Ripple joined Get Blue as its exclusive FinTech partner, supporting water access initiatives targeting 1.2 million people over three years.

Ripple has expanded its partnership with Water.org, committing $6 million to improve water financing through blockchain payments and stablecoin infrastructure. The agreement also introduces digital asset custody services to support Water.org’s financial operations across several international markets.

According to Ripple’s announcement, the expanded collaboration builds on operational improvements achieved through more than a year of joint work. Water.org, co-founded by Gary White and Matt Damon, has helped over 95 million people access safe water or sanitation.

The partnership has already supported financing access for more than one million people across Latin America. Ripple’s payment infrastructure has also processed over $3.2 million across four markets, reducing transaction costs and settlement delays.

In Mexico and Brazil, settlement periods dropped from two or three days to same-day processing. Additionally, transaction fees declined by up to 66%, while payment processing became available around the clock.

Ripple Commits $6 Million as RLUSD Expands Water Financing Across Three Countries

Ripple’s three-year funding commitment will support WaterCredit, which helps families finance household water and sanitation improvements. The program works with local financial institutions to provide affordable loans for taps, toilets, and piped water connections.

Separately, Water.org received a $1.25 million RLUSD grant through the Stablecoin Impact Fund. The funding will expand stablecoin-enabled WaterCredit disbursements into Indonesia, the Philippines, and Uganda.

Water.org will also integrate Ripple’s Wallet-as-a-Service technology to manage digital assets securely across its operations. Meanwhile, Ripple Payments will support cross-border transfers to participating financial institutions, reducing reliance on traditional banking schedules.

Gary White, Water.org’s co-founder and CEO, emphasized the importance of efficient capital distribution in addressing water accessibility. White explained that affordable financing enables families to convert existing water expenses into permanent household infrastructure.

Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse highlighted blockchain’s role in improving international payments and reducing costs for humanitarian organizations. Garlinghouse also emphasized the partnership’s contribution to expanding access to essential water and sanitation services.

Ripple Joins Get Blue Initiative to Expand Global Water Access

Beyond direct funding, Ripple will participate in the WaterEquity Everspring Fund, which supports water and sanitation lending. The investment structure recycles loan repayments into additional financing opportunities across emerging markets.

Ripple has also joined Water.org’s Get Blue initiative as its exclusive digital asset and FinTech partner. Its initial funding supported access for 400,000 people, while the three-year commitment targets 1.2 million beneficiaries.

Get Blue includes corporate partners such as Amazon, Starbucks, Gap, and Ecolab, supporting Water.org’s broader international mission. Water.org aims to reach 200 million people with safe water or sanitation access by 2030. Gary White and Matt Damon will join Garlinghouse at Swell 2026 to discuss financing solutions for global water access.
