Binance has moved 3.09 trillion Shiba Inu ($SHIB) tokens across its internal wallets in what appears to be a routine upgrade of the exchange's cold storage infrastructure.
Two Transactions, Sixty Seconds
Data from Arkham Intelligence shows the exchange completed two transfers in rapid succession, with a combined value of roughly $16.46 million. The first transaction involved 1.099 trillion $SHIB, followed almost immediately by a second transfer of 2 trillion $SHIB, both moving between Binance-controlled wallet addresses. The entire sequence was completed within sixty seconds.
The Crypto Basic has reported that exchanges commonly move assets between hot and cold storage as part of their security and custody practices.Hot wallets remain connected to the internet to process deposits and withdrawals efficiently, while cold wallets stay offline and provide an additional layer of security. The transfer therefore appears to have been an internal wallet movement rather than a deposit to another exchange or an external sale.
Binance Remains One of the Largest SHIB Holders
Binance remains one of the largest Shiba Inu holders. According to Etherscan data, two of the exchange's wallets collectively hold 44.5 trillion $SHIB, representing 7.55% of Shiba Inu's total supply. The latest movement is consistent with a broader pattern of large-scale internal reshuffling across major platforms. Binance and other major venues have moved billions of $SHIB in separate transactions over recent months, with such transfers typically associated with internal wallet management and not necessarily indicating buying or selling activity.
There is no indication the transfers involved customer withdrawals or external counterparties. Observers note that moves of this scale between verified exchange wallets are standard operational practice and carry no direct implications for market supply or price direction.
