Binance Postpones Its Predict Token Listing Hours After Disclosing a Security Incident
CryptoCompass editorial visual for markets coverage.
  • Binance had announced it would list Predict (PREDICT) with a Seed Tag and open PREDICT/USDT, PREDICT/USDC and PREDICT/TRY trading at 10:00 UTC on October 30, 2026
  • A second announcement, published at 02:32 UTC on October 30, said the listing “will be postponed until further notice” without giving a reason
  • The postponement landed roughly thirty minutes after Binance’s own announcement of a $6.3 billion security incident, published at 02:23 UTC the same day

Binance’s original listing notice, published on October 29, 2026 at 11:48, said the exchange would add Predict, trading under the ticker PREDICT, with a Seed Tag attached to flag it as a higher-volatility, higher-risk asset. The notice set trading pairs of PREDICT/USDT, PREDICT/USDC and PREDICT/TRY to open at 10:00 UTC on October 30, 2026, with no listing fee charged to the project.

That plan changed within hours. A second Binance announcement, published at 02:32 UTC on October 30, stated plainly that the Predict listing, originally set for 10:00 UTC that day, would be postponed until further notice. The notice links back to the original listing announcement but does not explain why the launch was delayed, leaving the exact reason unconfirmed in Binance’s own wording.

The timing lines up closely with Binance’s disclosure of a major security incident. The exchange published its own announcement of a roughly $6.3 billion security incident, involving a compromised DevOps engineer’s laptop and unauthorized withdrawal transactions, at 02:23 UTC on October 30, just nine minutes before the Predict postponement notice went out. Binance’s postponement announcement does not explicitly connect the two events, so any link between the security incident and the listing delay remains an inference based on timing rather than something the exchange has stated directly.

Seed Tag listings are typically newer or smaller-cap tokens that Binance flags for extra risk awareness, and delaying a listing of this kind is not unusual on its own. What makes this postponement notable is less the listing itself than its timing, arriving in the same narrow window as the exchange’s disclosure of its largest-ever security incident, during a period when Binance had already suspended deposits and withdrawals more broadly.

Binance has not said when, or whether, the Predict listing will proceed. For traders who had been watching the original announcement and positioning around the planned 10:00 UTC launch, the abrupt reversal leaves the token’s listing timeline entirely open, with no indication of whether it will resume within days or be pushed back indefinitely while the exchange works through its broader security response. The postponement notice is published on Binance’s own announcement page, which states only that further updates will follow.
