Key Points

  • Bitcoin trades near $64,000 as Strategy reports an $8.2B quarterly loss from unrealized BTC declines.
  • Market watches $60,000 support and $65,000 resistance for short-term direction.

The Bitcoin (BTC) price is hovering around $63,900, reflecting a modest 24-hour gain of 0.4%.

The move comes as markets absorb Strategy’s second-quarter earnings, which showed a sharp reversal driven largely by unrealized losses on its BTC holdings.

Strategy shifted from a $10 billion profit in Q2 2025 to an $8.2 billion loss this quarter.

The change was primarily attributed to valuation declines in its bitcoin treasury position.

According to the company’s filing, bitcoin’s spot price ended the quarter more than 40% lower year-over-year.

During the same period, Strategy increased its holdings by 11%, reaching a peak of 846,000 BTC before conducting selective sales.

As of its latest 8-K disclosure, the firm holds 843,775 BTC.

Management also reported an 18% reduction in convertible debt to $6.7 billion and a 12% increase in USD reserves to $2.4 billion, signaling a shift toward balance-sheet stability.

The company has paused BTC purchases for five consecutive weeks, removing a consistent source of visible institutional demand from the market.

Technical Levels in Focus

At approximately $64,000, Bitcoin remains within a narrow range between $63,986 and $65,372.

This consolidation reflects indecision rather than a decisive directional breakout.

Analysts identify $60,000 as a key support level, with additional demand potentially emerging between $57,500 and $55,000 if that floor breaks.

A prior dip toward $59,100 has already tested buyer conviction once.

On the upside, resistance is clustered between $64,500 and $65,000.

A sustained close above this band would be required to support a broader recovery scenario.

Beyond immediate resistance, the $71,000–$72,000 area defines the upper boundary of the larger consolidation range.

A move toward that zone would indicate stronger structural momentum rather than a short-lived rebound.

A joint report from Coinbase Institutional and Glassnode suggests that post-Q4 deleveraging has reduced liquidation risks, shifting bitcoin’s behavior to be more sensitive to macroeconomic factors.

Market participants are tracking three potential scenarios in the near term.

In a bullish case, price holds above $60,000 and breaks $65,000, potentially opening a path toward $71,000 if ETF inflows strengthen.

A base-case outlook envisions continued consolidation between $62,000 and $65,000 as macro data and Federal Reserve commentary shape direction.

In a bearish scenario, a close below $59,100 could expose the $57,500 zone and weaken recovery expectations.

Momentum indicators show the RSI rebounding from deeply oversold levels near 15.5.

Historically, such readings have preceded notable recoveries, though outcomes vary depending on broader market conditions.

Bitcoin Hyper and Layer 2 Development

With Bitcoin trading below previous highs, some market participants are evaluating infrastructure-focused projects for potential growth opportunities.

One such initiative is Bitcoin Hyper ($HYPER), described as a Layer 2 protocol integrating the Solana Virtual Machine to address scalability and programmability limitations.

The project reports raising over $32 million at a presale price of $0.0136839.

It promotes features including a decentralized canonical bridge for BTC transfers and sub-second transaction execution, alongside staking options for participants.

Development of Layer 2 solutions reflects continued efforts to expand utility on the base bitcoin network amid broader market consolidation.
