Bitcoin News Today: BTC Roars to $84,917 on Best ETF Week

Bitcoin news today opened with a dramatic reversal. Barely a day after slipping to around $84,100, BTC price today has rebounded sharply, trading at $84,917.19, up 1.1% over the past 24 hours, according to CoinGecko data.

The move pushed BTC to a fresh 24-hour high of $84,913.28, just shy of the $85,000 mark.

Why is BTC price up today? The rebound lines up closely with a fresh wave of spot BTC ETF buying that has renewed institutional demand.

  • Monday: $999.0M

  • Tuesday: $714.7M

  • Wednesday: $347.0M

  • Thursday: $190.6M

BlackRock's IBIT led weekly demand near $1.2 billion, followed by Fidelity's FBTC at $701.7 million, underscoring strong Bitcoin institutional demand even as daily inflows tapered through the week.

Bitcoin Price Prediction: Are Long-Term Holders Cashing Out Too Early?

Analyst account CryptoTice_ argued that long-term holders are currently realizing about 72% profits, well below the 350% realized profits recorded at the December 2024 cycle peak.

This CryptoTice_ tweet also covered this angle, suggesting today's distribution looks like moderate profit-taking rather than a full exit.Crypto Tice oFficial tweet

Separately, Fidelity's Jurrien Timmer said on X that Bitcoin's power law model still points toward a new bull market after holding $60,000, with his framework suggesting a possible run toward $300,000 by 2029.

This Jurrien Timmer tweet also covered this Bitcoin price prediction, though it reflects Timmer's own long-range model rather than a confirmed forecast.Jurrien Timmer Official Twet

Bitcoin Market Cap and What Comes Next

With Bitcoin market cap steady near $1.706 trillion and BTC still well below its all-time high, this week's setup echoes classic early bull market signals: heavy spot Bitcoin ETF inflow, moderate long-term holder selling, and a fast price recovery.

Is Bitcoin going up right now purely on ETF demand? Largely yes, though sentiment around Fed policy and long-term holder behavior will decide whether this Bitcoin price rally extends into next week or fades.
