Bitcoin Price Bull Case Faces One Big Historical Caveat
CryptoCompass editorial visual for markets coverage.

Key Insights:

  • Bitcoin price outlook: Fresh capital inflows could signal a bullish shift, according to Ki Young Ju, supporting the case for another BTC rally.
  • Ash Crypto highlighted diminishing returns across market cycles, with gains of roughly 5,000%, 600%, and 300% across the periods cited.
  • The analyst argued that a 44% rebound from a recent low looks modest by historical standards, although past performance does not guarantee future gains.

Bitcoin price analysis has resumed its bull market debate on social media platforms. CryptoQuant co-founder Ki Young Ju asserted that fresh capital inflows were a sign of the upcoming rally.

Some analysts have also pointed to similarities to previous cycles and a continued accumulation by whales.

However, the crypto’s history has an inconvenient truth – the returns of the past are hardly a recipe for the future. Ju stated in his X post, “Fresh capital flowing into Bitcoin. This only happens in bull markets.”

A Closer Look into the Bitcoin Market

This serves as a thesis on paper and an early warning against premature euphoria. The truth behind it is that this assessment only applies if the inflow continues to outweigh the supply.

Popular analyst Ash Crypto chose to employ a similar strategy with historical returns to BTC.

Ash Crypto compared Bitcoin’s performance across three market cycles, citing gains of roughly 5,000% in 2016–2017, 600% in 2020–2021, and 300% from 2023 through the end of 2025.

Against that historical backdrop, Ash argued that Bitcoin’s 44% rebound from a recent low remains relatively modest, suggesting the cryptocurrency could have more room to climb.

However, the prices and targets discussed in this article are based on technical analysis and are not a guarantee of future movements. The crypto market is highly volatile, so investors should exercise due diligence or consult an expert while making their investment decisions.

Bitcoin Price Predictions Are Not Necessarily Based On History

The cited statistics are easy to compile and provide a simple, rounded idea of the bull market’s progression.

Each subsequent cycle produces lower returns, most likely due to Bitcoin’s dependence on the size of the overall market.

This is an attractive theory, but not without its issues. More specifically, the percentages were calculated on different timelines and do not consider the value of BTC at the beginning and end of each interval.

A price increase from a cycle low to the peak cannot be compared to a rise within a year or another arbitrary timeline.

These numbers can support an argument that history does not dictate the next movement, only a general idea that a return of 44% should not stop Bitcoin there.

Ash Crypto is not the first to note the trend, because it is logical to conclude that the market value of BTC will affect the extent of its advance.

This is hardly worth debating, but it becomes essential when attempting to predict the price of Bitcoin in 2027.

The combination of supply and demand can set a course for a rise, but a 300% increase followed by a reversal already happened in 2023.

It means this is not a necessary scenario in 2026, and even a rise similar to that of 2016-2017 would require fresh impetus.

Why Bitcoin Price Would Rise Further?

On-chain statistics are another factor that could be used for a bull case. According to Santiment, wallets with a balance between 10 BTC and 10,000 BTC accumulated 88,987 BTC in the period following September 19.

Their total supply amounts to 13.69 million BTC, which is a record high according to the wallet provider’s research.

This trend appears to coincide with the recent Bitcoin price rebound. However, it is equally relevant to point out that this growth took place against the backdrop of extreme market fluctuations.

Another important nuance is that these large wallets did not sell Bitcoin. On the contrary, Santiment regularly emphasizes the correlation between their movements and Bitcoin’s price action.

Michael Saylor Expects a 4-Year Bull Cycle

One might argue that any attempt to forecast the Bitcoin price chart without taking into account recent developments is almost bound to fail.

The views of Strategy Executive Chairman Michael Saylor provide the necessary perspective. During his October 19 interview with Schwab, he noted that BTC was at the start of the next upward move after its “kickoff” against the 200-week moving average.

Saylor also predicted that Bitcoin would reach six figures within the next 12 months, but that is what he does, including as a result of his company’s long-tail Bitcoin buying.

This BTC price prediction is far from being a confirmation of a bullish scenario, simply because it comes from an active participant in the market who buys BTC.

The technical outlook described by The Coin Republic further complicates an immediate jump in cryptocurrency.

BTC was a few coins away from $82,000, with analysts watching $83,300 as a breakout direction and $87,000 as another area of resistance.

Targets of $90,000 and $100,000 would be followed by concerns about spot demand. This view also involves the issue of supply, which The Coin Republic cited on October 19.

Marathon Digital Holdings transferred 1,000 BTC to exchanges. Hut 8 moved 1,589 BTC, and the combined 2,589 BTC is valued at around $212.8 million. Either of these numbers could be a sign that bears have more influence on the price of BTC than bulls.
