  • Bitcoin recovered above $81,000 on Wednesday after an earlier slide near $75,600.
  • Democratic control of Congress raises uncertainty over industry-backed crypto legislation.
  • ETF withdrawals and the Binance hack remain separate pressures on investor confidence.

Bitcoin price climbed above $81,000 on Wednesday, November 4, reversing an earlier decline as stocks also recovered. Gains reached 4.2% during the session, despite Democrats winning both chambers of Congress. The rebound followed a seven-week low and offered relief to investors facing exchange security concerns, fund withdrawals and uncertainty over future crypto legislation.

Bitcoin Price Reverses Early Losses as Stock Markets Recover

The initial sell-off pushed Bitcoin toward $75,600 as election results emerged. Buyers subsequently returned alongside a broader recovery in financial markets. The $81,000 level represents Wednesday’s reported rebound, rather than a current live quote.

Analysts offered several explanations for the Bitcoin price recovery. TDX Strategies founder Dick Lo told CoinDesk that a clear election outcome reduced uncertainty. Options activity also showed traders positioning for a rebound after the early decline.

However, the Bitcoin price bounce did not establish that institutional demand had recovered. Nearly $1.2 billion left US-listed spot Bitcoin ETFs from Friday through Tuesday, according to Bloomberg’s reporting. The recent Binance hack added another source of pressure on confidence.

Democratic Control Raises Questions Over Crypto Legislation

The election leaves a Democratic Congress facing a Republican White House. A market rebound does not resolve the legislative outlook, particularly for the stalled Clarity Act.

Sherrod Brown defeated Republican Jon Husted in Ohio despite substantial spending against him by crypto-aligned political groups. His return strengthens the influence of a prominent industry critic with experience overseeing financial regulation.

TD Cowen analyst Jaret Seiberg warned that the results could worsen the political environment for industry-backed legislation. That assessment remains a forecast, rather than a final congressional decision. The Bitcoin price recovery therefore coincided with continuing policy uncertainty.

Industry lobbying remains bipartisan. Reuters reported that Fairshake supported 32 House candidates during the cycle, comprising 19 Republicans and 13 Democrats.
