Bitcoin price has staged one of its most powerful rallies in years, climbing more than 20% in less than five days and completely changing the mood across the crypto market.

BTC has jumped from roughly $63,000 to above $78,000 during the latest recovery. In the process, Bitcoin erased nearly three months of losses in only five days and is on track for its strongest weekly rally since February 2024.

One comparison circulating across the crypto community puts the speed of the move into perspective: Bitcoin is effectively moving around 140 times faster than the stock market.

The comparison is based on the S&P 500’s historical average annual return of roughly 10%. Bitcoin has delivered more than twice that percentage gain in less than five days. Put another way, BTC generated the equivalent of an average year’s worth of S&P 500 gains in only a few days.

The “140 times faster” figure shouldn’t be interpreted as a formal measure of Bitcoin versus stock-market performance. It simply annualizes the time comparison. But it does capture something very real about the latest rally: Bitcoin’s repricing has happened extraordinarily quickly.

Bitcoin Erases Nearly Three Months of Losses in Five Days

The speed of the recovery is arguably more important than the comparison with stocks.

Bitcoin spent months grinding lower before eventually falling toward $63,000. That decline created increasingly bearish sentiment, and confidence deteriorated further as BTC struggled to produce a convincing recovery.

Then buyers returned.

Bitcoin surged through $70,000 and continued toward $78,000, wiping out almost three months of negative price action in less than a week.

A move from $63,000 to $78,000 means an increase of approximately 22%. For an asset with Bitcoin’s enormous market capitalization, generating that kind of percentage move in a matter of days requires a substantial change in demand and positioning.

The rally has also put BTC on course for its strongest weekly performance since February 2024, another indication of just how unusual the current move has become.

Crypto Sentiment Can Change Almost Overnight

There is another lesson in Bitcoin’s comeback that numbers alone don’t capture.

Just a few days ago, sentiment around crypto was dramatically different.

Bitcoin was struggling near its lows, altcoins were deeply depressed, and social media was once again filled with claims that crypto was “dead.” Traders who had spent weeks waiting for a recovery were becoming increasingly frustrated.

Five days later, Bitcoin price is above $78,000 and some major altcoins are posting double-digit daily gains.

That’s crypto.

Periods of inactivity and declining prices can last weeks or months, only for a significant portion of the recovery to happen in a handful of trading sessions. It is one reason patience matters so much in this market. Investors waiting for the market to look obviously bullish before becoming interested again can easily miss a large part of the initial move.

The reverse is equally important. Sentiment turning extremely bullish after a 20% rally doesn’t guarantee that prices will continue rising at the same pace.

Crypto can move from fear to euphoria extraordinarily quickly, and it can move back just as fast.

A few days ago, traders were debating whether the crypto market was dead.

Now the conversation has shifted to how far Bitcoin’s recovery can go.
