  • The Fed kept rates at 3.75%–4.00%, but two Fed officials wanted to raise rates, leaving the door open for further actions.
  • Persistent inflation could keep borrowing costs high, putting Bitcoin, altcoins, and growth stocks under pressure.
  • December’s Fed meeting will depend on new economic data, with inflation trends shaping expectations for future interest rates.

Bitcoin rate outlook faces fresh uncertainty after the Federal Reserve held rates steady, while two officials backed a quarter-point increase.

Fed Holds Rates Despite Two Dissenting Votes

The Federal Open Market Committee kept its target range at 3.75%–4.00%. The October 28 decision passed with ten votes supporting the hold. Lisa D. Cook and Beth M. Hammack instead favoured raising rates by 25 basis points.

Crypto Patel framed the decision as a warning for cryptocurrency and stock markets. The post said rate-hike fears could pressure Bitcoin and altcoins. It also pointed to possible strain on technology and growth stocks.

Fed: "Economic activity was growing at a strong rate. Domestic spending continued to be strong, and productivity gains and capital investment continued to be strong. Employment and the change in the workforce were matched and joblessness barely changed.

Those circumstances are good reasons for policy makers not to rush into a new approach. But there are two dissents indicating officials have differing views on the position taken. Their position does not mean the committee has approved another increase.

Inflation Remains the Main Policy Concern

The Fed indicated inflation is still above their two-percent target rate. Authorities desire additional information before determining policy position. That leaves incoming economic reports central to expectations for future rate decisions.

Bitcoin as of the time of writing  traded near $80,260 , according to market data. The price provides a snapshot after the Fed’s October 28 announcement. It does not establish that the policy decision caused the market move.

Interest rates affect the attractiveness of interest investments to investors. That can reduce appetite for assets exposed to sharp price swings. Bitcoin and altcoins may therefore face pressure if rate expectations rise.

The rising rate of borrowing is a similar threat to technology and growth stocks. Investors might discount expected earnings further into the future. If equity markets deteriorate, it could lead to a general loss of risk appetite.

Still, the Fed’s decision was to hold rates, not raise them. The majority did not adopt Cook and Hammack’s preferred increase. Markets must separate their dissent from the committee’s actual decision.

December Meeting Puts New Data in Focus

December’s meeting is the next major policy event identified in Crypto Patel’s post. Before then, inflation readings and employment figures could shift market expectations. Those reports may shape how investors assess the Fed’s next move.

Cooling inflation could ease fears of another rate increase. That could lead to some relief from borrowing rates for investors. A change like this would benefit sentiment in Bitcoin, altcoins and equities.

If inflation remains, then policymakers will have less room to loosen the policy. Markets might anticipate an extension of price levels or their further increase. That outlook may weigh on assets sensitive to financial conditions.

However, the two dissenting votes alone cannot predict December’s decision. The committee’s next move will depend on incoming information and its assessment. Until then, both a prolonged hold and tighter policy remain possible.

For Bitcoin, the focus now turns to inflation and future rate expectations. A sustained easing in price pressures could change the market’s outlook. If inflation stays elevated, traders may remain cautious ahead of December.
