Bitcoin continues its struggle around the $83,000 mark, despite seeing robust inflows into U.S. spot exchange-traded funds (ETFs). According to Farside data, spot Bitcoin ETFs attracted a net influx of $524.8 million yesterday. Meanwhile, CryptoAppsy reports suggest that Bitcoin is currently trading at $82,900, with analysts predicting that this price concentration could determine the market’s next direction.
ETF Inflows Highlight BlackRock and Fidelity as Major Players
Bitcoin ETF inflows were predominantly driven by BlackRock’s IBIT fund and Fidelity’s FBTC fund. IBIT saw an incoming flow of $235 million, while FBTC registered $212.7 million. Other funds witnessed more modest activities, with GBTC receiving $32.6 million, BITB $19.2 million, ARKB $9.8 million, BTC $8.2 million, and EZBC $7.3 million. No net inflows were reported for the remaining products.
According to cryptocurrency market analyst Murphy, as of October 22, the Bitcoin accumulated around the $83,000 level has neared 921,000 BTC, approaching the 1 million Bitcoin threshold. A similar concentration was last noted on August 3 of this year when roughly 1.05 million BTC were recorded at the same price level.
Market Awaits Resolution at Key Price Threshold
Murphy highlighted that historical wallet consolidation activities by Coinbase could be influencing these figures, with approximately 550,000 BTC linked to transactions from a year ago. Uncertainty remains regarding how much of this is currently held, with estimates suggesting only 100,000 to 200,000 BTC might remain. Murphy thus suggests excluding this factor from current assessments.
From the analyst’s viewpoint, Bitcoin moved below the $83,000 threshold on October 8, entering a zone where previous transitions lacked volume. The return of price to this level has facilitated coin exchange and filled a trading volume void. Murphy noted that downward movements met resistance, suggesting a potential upward test where resistance may be lesser. However, the battle between buyers and sellers at $83,000 will dictate the new trend’s direction.
Glassnode Identifies Key Market Dynamics
Glassnode’s weekly report points broadly to an $80,000–$87,000 range. It mentions that daily closures momentarily exceeded $87,500, and recent ETF inflows coupled with increased trading volumes imply demand is meeting supply in the upper region of this band.
Underlying factors indicate purchases around the $80,000 mark based on ETF and company holdings costs. Yet, these acquisitions are more limited relative to prior peaks. Glassnode warns that losing $80,000 could result in losses for ETF investors and average corporate treasury investors, potentially retracting prices to the “True Market Mean.”
Above, acquisitions by investors 6–12 months ago highlight a cost of approximately $86,700, with sell orders and liquidation clusters around $85,000 and $87,000. A breakout from this range could accelerate market movement, though upward trends may encounter selling-pressure obstacles.
Glassnode emphasizes the need to monitor the Federal Reserve’s interest rate decision set for October 28, rising oil prices, bond yields, and re-inflation expectations. Upcoming MSCI index changes, announced on November 11 and enacted on November 30, may affect strategy-related stock and Bitcoin purchasing demand.
Circle Focuses on Digital Dollar and AI Integration
As Bitcoin’s price direction remains under debate, Circle CEO Jeremy Allaire is concentrating on longer-term applications. Speaking to CNBC, Allaire expressed a more optimistic view on digital dollars applicable in payments and economic activities facilitated by AI agents, rather than short-term Bitcoin performance.
Allaire suggested that digital dollars could be used for payments, transactions, lending, and investment. As AI agents engage in more economic activity in the future, demand for digital dollars and related blockchain frameworks might rise. He did not, however, share specific data supporting this growth outlook.
Despite strong ETF inflows, Bitcoin’s persistence near $83,000 indicates that emerging demand has yet to propel the price above higher resistances. Murphy’s noted concentration positions this level as the epicenter of short-term contests, while Glassnode’s data suggests that surpassing the $85,000–$87,000 range is necessary for further ascension. Meanwhile, a dip below $80,000 could trigger cost-based pressure from both ETFs and corporate investors.
