Bitcoin has come under renewed selling pressure after failing to break above the key resistance zone between $81,000 and $83,000, leaving traders closely watching its next move.

Resistance Test at $83,000 Fuels Uncertainty

Currently, Bitcoin is priced at $78,002, with a daily trading volume of approximately $45.10 billion and a market capitalization of $1.57 trillion. The coin has managed a modest 0.61% gain in the past 24 hours.

On August 30, Crypto Patel, a well-followed cryptocurrency analyst, emphasized that Bitcoin recently bounced back from the high timeframe resistance area of $81,000 to $83,000. This range has acted as a major supply zone in recent trading sessions.

Patel noted that the most recent daily candlestick closed with a sharp downward move after facing rejection near $83,000. Bulls have not been able to establish a strong position above this level, maintaining the bearish market scenario while $83,000 remains unbroken.

In Patel’s assessment, “A bullish reversal could only become convincing if Bitcoin rises past $83,000, while a breakdown below support might open the way for a move down to the $50,000-$55,000 zone.”

This supply area continues to be a significant battleground between buyers and sellers. A successful challenge of upper resistance could give buyers renewed momentum, but failure to hold support may lead to further downside for the cryptocurrency.

Technical Indicators Highlight Mixed Signals

Despite the rejection, some technical signals suggest underlying bullish strength. Bitcoin is trading above the midline of the Bollinger Band, set at approximately $71,731. The upper Bollinger Band is positioned at $85,866, marking an area that could become resistance if the price attempts another surge.

Meanwhile, the MACD indicator also remains in positive territory. The MACD line stands at 3,910, while the signal line is at 3,404, with the histogram staying positive at about 506, indicating continued short-term upward momentum.

Mini dictionary: MACD (Moving Average Convergence Divergence), a technical indicator that helps traders assess momentum by comparing short-term and long-term moving averages. A positive histogram suggests bullish price momentum.

However, declining MACD histogram bars indicate slowing momentum. If this trend persists, Bitcoin could struggle to break through the upper resistance zone.

Outlook Hinges on Key Support and Resistance Levels

The market setup suggests that Bitcoin may either rally to retest the $81,000-$83,000 range or weaken further if support around $78,000 fails. Whether bulls can regain control will likely depend on sustained momentum and defense of support.

If Bitcoin preserves current support and maintains short-term strength, another move toward the $81,000-$83,000 resistance appears possible. In contrast, a clear breakdown would reinforce a bearish scenario and may prompt a decline toward the $50,000-55,000 target highlighted by Patel.

The prevailing tension between bullish momentum and a strong resistance level continues to dominate market sentiment. The actions around $78,000 support and any renewed attack on $83,000 are expected to determine the immediate direction for Bitcoin.
