Bitcoin climbed above $83,000 on Wednesday, gaining 2.5% over the previous 24 hours as inflows into US spot exchange-traded funds (ETFs) supported a renewed rally in the cryptocurrency market.

US spot ETFs record sharp inflows

Investor data from SoSoValue reported that US-listed Bitcoin spot ETFs drew substantial interest in the early days of the week. These products registered net inflows of $23.16 million on Tuesday, following a larger $526.60 million inflow on Monday. Total inflows reached $549.76 million in two days, sharply reversing last week’s outflow of $228.58 million.

While Tuesday’s inflows were lower, two consecutive positive sessions suggest rising demand for ETF products tracking Bitcoin’s price. Although not all ETF buyers are institutional, the turnaround highlights returning interest from the broader market after a recent stretch of redemptions.

ETF market activity marked a robust change from the previous week’s outflows, suggesting a constructive sentiment shift among investors.

ETF flows are often watched as a barometer for institutional involvement in Bitcoin, but do not provide a full breakdown of buyer profiles. Still, the positive net movement signaled improved market sentiment after earlier weakness.

Swiss approval opens retail access to Bitcoin ETFs

The rally also followed regulatory action in Switzerland, where the Swiss Financial Market Supervisory Authority (FINMA) approved a domestic spot Bitcoin ETF, making it accessible to retail investors for the first time.

The new product expands retail access through a regulated Swiss investment fund structure, addressing investor protection and transparency requirements. Even with this regulatory milestone, potential capital inflows and the impact on overall Bitcoin demand remain to be seen.

This approval illustrates ongoing progress in integrating Bitcoin into traditional finance through regulated market products.

Bitcoin futures open interest also rose nearly 3% in 24 hours to $54.83 billion, according to CoinGlass, indicating higher notional value of active contracts driven by new positions, rising prices, or both.

Over the same period, liquidations totaled $66.60 million. Short positions accounted for about $57.70 million or 86% of the total, suggesting that leveraged bearish traders were forced to close positions as prices recovered. The funding rate for perpetual contracts stayed positive at 0.0094%, meaning traders holding long positions were paying those with shorts.

Overall, market data showed a bullish bias, but leveraged long positions remain vulnerable should the price retreat.

BTC technical outlook remains constructive

Bitcoin currently trades near $83,500, holding above key technical levels including the 50-day Exponential Moving Average (EMA) at $80,787 and the 200-day EMA at $76,112.

Market analysts identified the $81,182–$80,787 area—spanning the 50% Fibonacci retracement and 50-day EMA—as an important support zone. Sustaining this range could preserve the developing recovery trend, while a break below these metrics may signal renewed weakness. The 200-day EMA at $76,112 represents deeper support.

Technical Level Value (USD) Significance 50-day EMA $80,787 Immediate support 200-day EMA $76,112 Strong long-term support 50% Fibonacci retracement $81,182 Short-term support Resistance target $85,000 Near-term milestone September swing high $87,396 Next resistance 161.8% Fib extension $95,075 Conditional upside

A break above the September high near $87,396 may reinforce prospects for a move towards $90,000, with $95,075 as the next technical upside target by Fibonacci extension.

Momentum technicals are showing improvement: the Relative Strength Index reached 54, while the MACD indicator sits just below its signal line, and the negative histogram is narrowing. This combination indicates receding bearish pressure and a potential shift in trend if buyers continue to gain traction.

Bullish momentum in both price and on-chain metrics suggests that further gains are possible if the trend persists and institutional interest holds steady.
