BitcoinRun to open its Founding Edition on 31 October with a global invitation: “Come with me”
From 31 October 2026 to 3 January 2027, people anywhere can run, jog or walk — and inspire someone else to begin.
A friend invites you for a walk. A colleague suggests a run. That simple invitation is the idea behind BitcoinRun, a global movement opening its Founding Edition on 31 October 2026. It encourages people to build a more active life and help others take their first step: Move yourself. Get others moving.
Founded by long-distance runner Younes Iraki, BitcoinRun brings together his experience of endurance sport and community participation. He has taken on the 250 km Marathon des Sables and founded TheCityRun, which has brought thousands of people together through running and community events.
“What stays with me is the first-timer who turns up because a friend said, ‘Come with me,’” said Younes Iraki, founder of BitcoinRun. “BitcoinRun is built around that moment. Move yourself, then help someone else begin.”
The name draws on Bitcoin’s story of a beginning that others could join and build on. The edition opens on the anniversary of the Bitcoin whitepaper and closes on 3 January 2027, the anniversary of its first block. Bitcoin inspired the idea. Movement is the mission.
For this opening edition, participants complete one activity of at least 5 km, running, jogging or walking, at any pace, wherever they are. Wheelchairs, handbikes, walking aids and guide runners all count. Individual participation is free. No Bitcoin required. No purchase required. Participants are encouraged to invite a friend, family member or colleague. The 5 km is your achievement. The person you get moving is your impact.
The journey begins at bitcoinrun.xyz: register, confirm registration, complete the activity during the edition and submit proof. Once the proof is accepted, participants become Founding Finishers and receive their number and certificate. The Founding Wall celebrates participation during the edition; the Founding Record will preserve it after verification and correction.
Friends and informal groups can create free Founding Teams. Companies can get their people moving through Movement Packs.
The Edition 01 collection also offers apparel and individually numbered medal and pendant collectibles — a way to wear the movement and keep a piece of its beginning.
