IBIT Records Perfect Inflow Week With $478.5M in Bitcoin Purchases

@BlackRock's iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT) has posted net inflows on every trading day this week, with participants in the world's largest spot $BTC ETF collectively acquiring $478.5 million worth of Bitcoin. The streak points to sustained institutional appetite for digital assets, even as pockets of market volatility persist.

The weekly haul is the latest sign that institutional buyers are returning to the Bitcoin ETF market after a turbulent stretch earlier in 2026. Bitcoin ETF combined inflows for the first two trading days in August alone already exceeded the total net inflows for July.On August 3, BlackRock bought $111 million in $BTC through IBIT, while Fidelity added $33 million and Franklin Templeton purchased $9 million.

IBIT has consistently led the pack among US spot Bitcoin ETFs in both directions, attracting the lion's share of inflows during bullish periods and absorbing the brunt of outflows during downturns. That pattern has held through early August, with IBIT again accounting for the majority of daily category flows.

Context: A Recovery From a Difficult Summer

The current inflow streak arrives after a difficult few months for the Bitcoin ETF complex. Q2 2026 marked the third consecutive quarter of net outflows for US spot Bitcoin ETFs as a group, with cumulative withdrawals in Q2 exceeding those in Q1.US spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded a historic $3.4 billion in net outflows in a single week in early June 2026, the largest weekly withdrawal since the ETFs launched in January 2024.

Analysts have described a "winner-take-most" dynamic in the Bitcoin ETF market, in which BlackRock and Fidelity dominate flows while smaller issuers play supporting roles at best. That dominance is again on display this week, with IBIT driving the bulk of the category's recovery.

Whether the current streak marks a durable turning point or another brief reprieve remains to be seen. For sustained price appreciation, Bitcoin needs not just a return to positive weekly flows but enough cumulative buying to offset the hole created earlier this year.
