BlackRock clients added another $183.41 million to the iShares Bitcoin Trust ($BTC ticker: IBIT) on July 30, according to data from SoSoValue, extending a streak of nine-figure daily purchases that has defined the fund's activity throughout the month.
IBIT Leads a Fragile July Recovery
The July 30 inflow is not an isolated data point. IBIT has topped every positive session this month, with daily prints ranging from $38 million to well over $160 million. BlackRock's IBIT led the inflow streak, taking in $319.16 million of one week's total and topping every session. That consistency has made it the dominant force among US spot Bitcoin ETFs, a position it has held since launch.
The latest purchase pushes IBIT's total inflows for July well past the $700 million mark cited in flow data, though the broader picture for the month is more complicated. Through July, the daily flow prints repeatedly looked like a turnaround. A seven-session streak in mid-month pulled in nearly $1 billion, and Bitcoin ETFs logged three consecutive positive weeks for the first time since early May. However, those gains were repeatedly trimmed by sharp outflow days. Net outflows of around $225.2 million and $240.1 million on July 23 and 24 respectively, according to data tracked by SoSoValue, ate into much of what had been accumulated.
Dominant Market Position, But Context Matters
BlackRock's IBIT has accumulated cumulative net inflows of approximately $60.35 billion since its January 2024 launch, making it the largest US spot Bitcoin ETF by inflows.Fidelity's FBTC is second, with roughly $9.97 billion. The gap between the two underscores how thoroughly BlackRock has captured institutional demand in this market.
Still, the monthly context is worth noting. July's net inflow figure is the smallest of any month since the funds launched in January 2024, following $2.43 billion in outflows in May and $4.51 billion in June. The monthly figure, not the daily prints, is the real demand gauge, and analysts at FinanceFeeds note it suggests institutional buying has stalled rather than fully returned.
For now, IBIT's continued dominance on inflow days signals that when institutional capital does move into Bitcoin, it flows primarily through BlackRock's product. When institutional money decides it wants Bitcoin exposure, IBIT tends to be where it lands.
