In a clear indication of the current turbulence in the cryptocurrency investment landscape, U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs closed the latest trading day with significant net outflows. Farside Investors’ data, published on November 4, underscored the trend, revealing that 12 funds collectively saw $115.6 million pulled out. Throughout this period, Bitcoin exhibited resilience, advancing by 1.28% over the past 24 hours to reclaim a position above the $77,000 mark, trading at $77,805.26 on Binance‘s BTC/USDT pair.
BlackRock ETF Records Significant Withdrawals
Dominating the day’s exodus was BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT), which reported withdrawals amounting to $95 million. Following closely was the Grayscale Bitcoin Mini Trust (BTC), which saw $52.6 million exit. These movements signal investor caution amid regulatory uncertainty and market dynamics.
“In contrast, Bitwise’s Bitcoin ETF (BITB) attracted $21.9 million, marking the highest net inflow of the day. Fidelity’s Wise Origin Bitcoin Fund (FBTC) received $6.8 million, while Morgan Stanley Bitcoin Trust (MSBT) saw an addition of $3.3 million,” Farside Investors highlighted.
U.S. Elections May Alter Cryptocurrency Regulations
Meanwhile, the shifting political landscape in the United States, where Democrats are gaining control of both the Senate and House of Representatives, could impede former President Trump’s plans to advance cryptocurrency regulations. The Democratic majority introduces the potential for significant policy changes under the CLARITY Act, aimed at revising the structural framework of the crypto market.
The Democrats’ position champions stronger consumer protections, stricter measures against illicit transactions, and stricter limitations on public officials’ activities within crypto companies. These proposals might lead to prolonged negotiations in Congress, given the complexity and breadth of the intended legislative changes.
Industry representatives are cautiously optimistic about a bi-partisan agreement on crypto taxation. However, should the Democrats maintain their legislative lead, advancing the CLARITY Act might hinge on consensus across key regulatory issues, potentially prolonging its enactment.
