Crypto data provider Blockworks has introduced a new server that integrates its market data for over 40,000 digital assets with leading artificial intelligence assistants such as ChatGPT, Claude, and various other tools. This development responds to what the company describes as growing demand from clients, including crypto exchanges and investment funds, who have increasingly adopted AI-driven workflows to monitor and analyze crypto markets.

AI-powered data integration

The server leverages the Model Context Protocol (MCP), an open standard that allows AI platforms to access and process external data sources in real-time. Through this system, users can connect the server to applications such as ChatGPT, Claude, and Cursor, enabling them to request up-to-date Blockworks data by simply entering standard questions.

Blockworks reports that ChatGPT officially lists its data connector as an available app. All results provided by the AI assistants include cited sources, and the assistants can visually chart the data as requested. To access this service, customers must maintain a Blockworks API subscription.

Blockworks co-founder Jason Yanowitz emphasized the shift in how institutional clients interact with market data, noting, “A growing share of our customers’ workflows happen in ChatGPT or Claude. The agent has no way to check a number, so the data has to be standardized and sourced before it ever gets there.”

Unified API and partnership with Messari

At the core of the new offering is the Unified API, which Blockworks launched on September 24. This feed aggregates Blockworks’ own market data with information from Messari, a crypto research and data analytics firm acquired by Blockworks in June.

The Unified API covers data from more than 300 exchanges and supplies standardized financials for upwards of 400 different DeFi protocols, along with research, news, fundraising details, and token unlock schedules. The system is designed to present these data points in a uniform format for easier comparison and research.

Messari already operates a similar MCP-compatible data server for its corporate clients. Yanowitz explained that Messari’s server will remain online briefly during a transition period before being phased out as users migrate to Blockworks’ new platform.

Yanowitz outlined the company’s vision: “Agents are going to be the biggest users of financial data. We want every number we have one call away for them, with the source attached.”

Data quality and compliance

While AI-powered access offers efficiency, Blockworks acknowledged ongoing challenges related to the reliability of AI-generated answers. Even with accurate underlying data, there remains a risk that AI models may misinterpret or misreport figures. To counter this, both human analysts and AI agents verify figures before releasing them to users, and all answers arrive with the raw numbers and sources attached for transparency.

The new server positions Blockworks among other crypto data providers embracing the MCP standard. CoinGecko and CoinMarketCap each operate their own versions, with CoinMarketCap allowing non-subscribers to pay per request. Yanowitz identified the combined depth and breadth of Blockworks’ and Messari’s datasets, consolidated into a single service, as a competitive advantage. The database spans more than 20 categories, including ETFs, treasury companies, governance proposals, and even podcasts.

Blockworks’ product launch closely follows the introduction of its Agentic Detection feature, a monitoring tool that uses AI agents to alert compliance teams to potential issues, highlighting the growing interdependence between compliance functions and AI-driven technology in the industry.

This rapid integration of real-time data and auxiliary tools is becoming increasingly relevant in volatile sectors such as meme tokens, where trends can quickly translate into substantial profit opportunities. In the meme token market, an internet trend can transform into millions of dollars of interest within days. According to data shared by Fomo App, a trade involving “Niu Lai” that grew a $99 investment into roughly $370,000 exemplifies the significance of not only tracking prices but also the timing and selection of assets by investors. Fomo App supports this approach by offering unified access to token discovery, live social feeds, investor rankings, and trade notifications on a single platform, providing an additional layer for those monitoring meme token activity and investor movements.

“And every answer comes back with the raw figures and sources, so anyone can check the model’s work,” Yanowitz stated, reinforcing the company’s focus on transparency.
