BNB Standard News: CZ and CEO Ring the Nasdaq Opening Bell

The BNB Standard (Nasdaq: BNC) rang the opening bell at the Nasdaq MarketSite in Times Square. CEO Alex Odagiu stood at the podium, and Binance founder Changpeng Zhao, known as CZ, was right beside him.

Both Nasdaq and the company streamed it live. For anyone following the latest crypto news around BNB, this BNB Standard news update shows the company stepping onto a bigger stage after its rebrand.

BNB Standard X-Post

The company shared the moment in an X update just before the bell, calling the day the beginning. The video highlights:

  • Odagiu and CZ speaking at the podium under BNB Standard and Nasdaq branding.

  • The formal bell sequence on the live market displays.

  • Board members, YZi Labs representatives, and BNB Chain guests celebrating with confetti.

BNB Chain also covered the update on its official X account, adding quotes from CZ and Odagiu.

BNB Chain X-Post

Who Is Alex Odagiu and Why the Rebrand Matters

Odagiu became permanent CEO on October 19, 2026. He had served as interim president and director since June. Before that, he was an investment partner at YZi Labs, after earlier roles at Letterone Technology and Goldman Sachs. He holds an M.A. (Hons.) in Economics and Mathematics from the University of St Andrews.

His arrival followed a June 2026 agreement between YZi Labs and the then CEA Industries to resolve governance differences. The board later named him permanent CEO.

The company carried the CEA Industries name until September 29, 2026. It then adopted the BNB standard after a community vote on X. The ticker stayed BNC, which keeps the stock easy to follow in daily crypto news.

On October 19, it also announced plans to run its own BNB Chain validator. A specialist provider will handle technical operations, while treasury BNB stays with qualified custodians. The stated priorities are growing BNB per share and building an operating business on the BNB chain.

What BNB Standard Holds and Why Its Shares Trade at a Discount

The BNB plan dates back to mid-2025. The company, then called CEA Industries, raised about $500 million in a private placement and shifted to holding BNB.

Buyers get BNB exposure through regular shares in a brokerage account, with no crypto wallet to set up.

Figures cited around the ceremony put holdings at 515,544 BNB, as of July 31, 2026. The company's treasury dashboard tracks holdings, adjusted NAV, mNAV, and diluted shares, so newer numbers may be live there.

A 0.74x mNAV means shares traded about 26% below adjusted net asset value. The discount was visible before the ceremony, which makes it a useful number in any BNB Standard news update.

For digital asset treasury firms, mNAV is a quick check on how the market values holdings. Adjusted NAV is non-GAAP, so it can differ from reported equity.

BNB Chain Update: Jenner Upgrade Hits Testnet on October 28

In other BNB news, BNB Chain developers reminded node operators, block builders, and app teams about the Jenner hard fork, set for the BSC testnet on October 28.

Testnet operators must upgrade first, or their nodes may fall out of sync. CoinGabbar's earlier Jenner upgrade coverage lists the full changes.

The upgrade brings three changes:

  • Payment Lane (BEP-703): reserves 5% of block gas by default for eligible BNB transfers and listed payment contracts, keeping capacity open for payments during congestion.

  • Millisecond timestamps (BEP-706): a precompile at address 0x70 gives contracts finer time data.

  • CAS20 (BEP-702): a native standard for stablecoins and tokenized assets.

Crypto News Takeaway: Wall Street Access Meets BNB Rails

Both updates point to a shared theme: bringing mainstream finance closer to BNB Chain. The BNB Standard news shows a share-based route for investors, while Jenner tests payment and tokenized-asset tools on the network itself. Jenner is a testnet step, so none of its features are live on the mainnet yet.

In Chain's post, CZ cited 30 million monthly users and strong liquidity for real-world assets. Odagiu said the company's role is to “give investors a seat at that table.”

BNB Standard news and the testnet fork show activity on both the investor side and the infrastructure side of BNB Chain. Readers should follow the live dashboard and activation notes for the latest news, because BNB prices, discounts, and testnet results can change quickly.
