- Istanbul Technical University joins the Ripple initiative with an XRPL validator.
Ripple has expanded access to its U.S. dollar-backed stablecoin RLUSD in Türkiye through partnerships with BiLira, Bitexen, and Bitlo. The move increases the stablecoin’s availability in one of the world’s largest cryptocurrency markets while supporting Ripple’s broader push into regulated digital finance. Ripple announced that users and institutions in Türkiye can now access RLUSD through the three local platforms.
RLUSD has recorded significant growth since its launch in late 2024, reaching a market capitalization of approximately $1.7 billion as institutional adoption continues to increase worldwide, according to Ripple.
According to Jack McDonald, Ripple’s Senior Vice President of Stablecoins, Türkiye represents a strategic market because of its strong cryptocurrency adoption and expanding digital asset ecosystem. He noted that RLUSD provides a transparent and regulated option for businesses requiring access to global liquidity.
Why Türkiye Has Become a Priority Market for Ripple
Türkiye remains one of the largest cryptocurrency markets in the Middle East and North Africa region. Ripple cited Chainalysis data showing the country processes nearly $200 billion in annual digital asset transaction volume.
Several factors have contributed to that growth, as strong retail participation and regulatory developments have encouraged greater institutional involvement. The Capital Markets Board introduced a licensing framework in 2024, providing clearer operating guidelines for digital asset companies.

This regulatory clarity has attracted international firms looking to expand their presence in the region. Moreover, the framework has helped create an environment where regulated products such as RLUSD can gain broader adoption.
BiLira said its partnership with Ripple reflects a shared commitment to regulatory compliance and digital asset innovation, adding that RLUSD could help support broader blockchain adoption across Türkiye.
Meanwhile, Bitexen described the integration as part of its strategy to connect local markets with international liquidity, while expanding RLUSD availability throughout its broader multi-jurisdiction network.
Bitlo also welcomed the addition of RLUSD to its platform, stating that Turkish users increasingly seek reliable digital dollar products for accessing international markets and managing market volatility. The addition of the three exchanges expands RLUSD’s reach within the country, giving both institutions and retail participants greater access to a regulated dollar-backed asset through established local platforms.
University Partnership Extends Ripple’s Long-Term Strategy
Beyond the stablecoin rollout, Ripple announced a partnership with Istanbul Technical University through its University Blockchain Research Initiative. The collaboration will fund graduate fellowships, support blockchain research programs, and establish an XRP Ledger validator on the university campus.
The initiative combines academic research with blockchain infrastructure development while supporting the next generation of researchers and developers working within Türkiye’s growing digital asset industry.
Ripple said the partnership will help connect students with practical blockchain experience while strengthening research efforts around decentralized technologies. Moreover, the validator deployment will provide hands-on exposure to XRP Ledger infrastructure within an academic environment.
Ripple’s latest expansion brings RLUSD to three major Turkish cryptocurrency platforms while strengthening the company’s position in a key global market. Furthermore, its partnership with Istanbul Technical University highlights Ripple’s efforts to support both institutional adoption and blockchain education in Türkiye.
