  • Bitcoin holds above $82K support within a consolidation range after August's rally.
  • Spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded fresh inflows, helping support bullish sentiment.
  • Major resistance sits between $85K and $89K, where heavy sell walls remain.

Bitcoin continues to trade near a crucial technical level as traders watch for the next major move. After a strong rally from August lows, the market has shifted into consolidation. Recent ETF flows have also returned to the spotlight after several volatile sessions. With Bitcoin holding above key support and institutional demand showing signs of improvement, investors are closely monitoring whether bulls can regain control and push prices higher.

Bitcoin Defends Key Support While Consolidating

Bitcoin trades around $83,049 on the daily Coinbase chart. Recent price action shows buyers defending the $82,000 region. The market opened near $82,911 and briefly reached $83,071. Sellers later pushed the price toward $82,714 before buyers stepped back in. Current trading remains inside a range between roughly $80,315 and $87,397. Price also stays above a rising trendline that began after the August breakout.

That structure remains positive despite slowing momentum. Popular analyst Daan Crypto Trades highlighted the importance of the $83,000 level. According to the analyst, weekly closes above that area would strengthen the bullish setup. The analyst also pointed to the daily 200-day moving average and 200-day exponential moving average. Both continue rising by roughly $100 each day. These long-term indicators often act as support following major breakouts.

Daan noted that similar levels rejected BTC during May. However, current trends suggest support could remain firm if buyers defend nearby levels. ETF flows remain another major factor behind short-term direction. Recent data showed U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded $21.1 million in inflows on Oct. 9. That followed significant outflows during the previous two trading sessions.

Can Bulls Break Through Heavy Resistance?

Broader macroeconomic conditions continue influencing investor sentiment. Markets are watching upcoming IMF and World Bank meetings. Rising interest rates, debt concerns, and geopolitical tensions remain key themes. Treasury yields and energy price volatility have also pressured risk assets. Despite those challenges, optimism remains. Citi recently raised a 12-month Bitcoin target to $113,000.

Analysts cited stronger crypto activity and expectations for future ETF inflows. Technical indicators paint a balanced picture. The Relative Strength Index sits near 52, showing neutral conditions. Meanwhile, the MACD remains below the signal line, reflecting weaker momentum during consolidation. The next major support level remains $80,315. A breakdown below that area could trigger further downside pressure.

On the upside, resistance near $87,397 remains the primary hurdle. Analyst BATMAN noted more than $35 million in sell orders between $85,000 and $89,000. Buyers must absorb that supply before any sustained breakout can occur. For now, Bitcoin bulls appear focused on defending $82,000 while preparing for the next battle near $85,000.
