Key Insights:

  • The Payward-affiliated fund and its clients acquire AAVE tokens through secondary-market purchases.
  • Payward may buy more AAVE as both companies explore future collaboration.
  • Aave holders question delayed buybacks as October revenue falls to $5.2 million

AAVE price is in focus after Payward, the parent company of Kraken, confirmed that an affiliated investment fund and its clients had bought AAVE tokens. The purchase comes as holders await news on the planned buyback, which has yet to receive a start date.

Payward Fund Buys AAVE Tokens

Payward, the company behind Kraken, has bought AAVE through an investment fund linked to its business. Aave shared the news on November 5, confirming that Digital Asset Special Investments I, LP, and its clients had acquired the tokens.

Notably, the purchases took place on the secondary market. This means the buyers acquired existing tokens rather than receiving newly issued ones from Aave. Payward also said it could buy more AAVE crypto in the future. However, the company did not disclose the number of tokens purchased or the amount spent on the deal.

The announcement also mentioned talks between Payward and Aave about possible joint projects. Both companies are looking at ways to work together, although neither has shared details of what those plans might involve.

Payward said it sees decentralized finance as part of the global financial system. The company also pointed to Aave’s role as traditional financial markets and blockchain-based services move closer together.

For AAVE holders, the purchase brings attention to the token from a company with a major presence in the crypto market. However, the announcement does not confirm a wider investment plan or a formal partnership between the two companies. Further details may emerge if Payward makes more purchases or both sides reach an agreement on future projects.

AAVE Buyback Plan Still Awaits Action

The latest purchase comes as some AAVE crypto holders continue to question the delay in the token buyback plan. Crypto commentator punkquidity said Aave had promised to restart buybacks but had not yet announced a vote or start date for Aavenomics 3.0.

The plan was announced in June. It was expected to bring back automatic buybacks, but holders are still waiting for details on when the process will begin.

Punkquidity also raised concerns about Aave’s revenue. The post stated that the platform made $5.2 million in October 2026, about one-third of its October 2025 revenue.

The market commentator suggested that the rsETH incident could still be holding up the buyback plan. They said holders would prefer a clear explanation to another promise without a timeline.

According to the post, Aave has directed its revenue to the DAO, but holders have not received funds through buybacks since April 19. The criticism shows that some members of the community want more clarity on the plan. However, no official restart date or vote was included in the information shared.

AAVE Trades Near $131 as Holders Watch for Updates

AAVE price was trading at $131.19, with a 24-hour change of 0.02%, according to the supplied market data. Its market capitalization stood at $2.02 billion, while 24-hour trading volume reached $266.57 million. The fully diluted valuation was $2.09 billion.

The token had a circulating supply of 15.44 million AAVE and a total supply of 16 million. Aave’s total value locked stood at $17.75 billion, while its market capitalization-to-TVL ratio was 0.1148.

These figures show the token’s current market position, but they do not confirm that a rally is underway. Payward’s purchase could draw more attention to AAVE if further acquisitions follow. Talks between both companies may also lead to projects that bring more activity to Aave.

Still, holders are waiting for answers about the buyback plan. October’s reported revenue has added to calls for an update, while the delay continues to raise questions within the community. For now, Payward’s latest purchase gives AAVE crypto holders a new development to watch.
