Canton Network (@CantonNetwork) recorded the highest fees among blockchains in CertiK's (@CertiK) Q3 2026 comparison, with a total above $155 million. The network's native token, Canton Coin ($CC), is burned to pay for services.
Newisty reported that CertiK Skynet published the figure on Oct. 12 and ranked Canton first among the chains it compared. DefiLlama records show $155.36 million in fees from July 1 through Sept. 29, 2026, a span of 91 days that averages about $1.71 million per day.
CertiK put the daily median at $1.71 million. According to the same report, that suggests a steady baseline of activity rather than a total inflated by a few unusually large days.
The picture is more mixed against earlier data. The Defiant noted that Canton's recorded daily fee pace was below the 30-day snapshot reported by Converge in June. Altcoin Buzz said that earlier figure was $60.2 million over 30 days, or roughly $2.01 million per day, also based on DefiLlama data. The quarterly total therefore does not necessarily point to accelerating spending on network services.
Details of the comparison are limited. Cointrust noted that Skynet did not publish a full list of the chains in the comparison group or the fee totals for the other networks. That makes it hard to gauge the size of Canton's lead over the wider market.
How Canton Coin fees work
Canton uses a burn-mint model for its token. According to Canton Network's documentation, users pay fees denominated in USD by burning CC when they purchase synchronizer traffic, and the burned coins are permanently removed from circulation. Validators, Super Validators and application providers mint new CC in return for their contributions to the network.
Over the long term, the documentation says the CC burned is meant to roughly balance the CC minted, subject to a predetermined maximum minting curve. When usage is high, more coins are burned. When usage is lower, supply increases until balance is restored.
Fee totals are one measure of network usage. As Newisty noted, DefiLlama's accounting for Canton goes beyond traffic purchases and also counts burns tied to transfer preapprovals, renewals and onboarding.
