Cardano ADA News: ETF Withdrew, Price Still Targeting $0.25 For August

Cardano ADA news is moving fast this week. Cardano Foundation CTO Giorgio Zinetti confirmed he will leave the role at the end of August. At the same time, Grayscale pulled its $ADA ETF filing along with two others.

This network update matters most when the platform's major upgrade era enters a new phase. Three separate stories are landing at once this August 2026, and each one shapes what comes next for ADA coin holders.

Cardano ADA News: Foundation CTO Zinetti Steps Down After 2.5 Years

The Foundation confirmed Zinetti will step away from the CTO role on August 31. He joined in 2024 and helped guide technical direction through a period of major protocol work.

In a personal post, Zinetti said the time had flown by and that he felt proud of what the team built together.

The Foundation said its board and executive team will keep working closely with senior technical and business development leaders to stay focused on enterprise adoption.

No replacement has been named publicly yet, but the transition is framed as planned rather than sudden, part of the broader Cardano ecosystem 2026 roadmap rather than a disruption to it.

Grayscale ADA ETF Withdrawal: What The Form RW Filing Reveals

On August 7, Grayscale filed Form RW to withdraw the S-1 registration behind its proposed Cardano Trust ETF, ticker GADA, alongside similar withdrawals for its Hedera and Polkadot filings.

All three were filed the same day, within ~190 seconds of each other. This Cardano ETF update confirms Grayscale does not plan to move forward with share distribution for now.

  • Filing date: August 7, 2026

  • Products withdrawn: Cardano, Hedera, and Polkadot Trust ETFs

  • Exchange listing proposal: already pulled by NYSE Arca back in September 2025

  • Status: no shares were ever issued or sold

  • Type: voluntary withdrawal, not an SEC rejection

Neither Grayscale nor the SEC gave a specific reason. The firm keeps the option to refile later, and it continues pursuing other altcoin ETF applications, including earlier-stage filings tied to Bittensor, Aave, BNB, NEAR, and Zcash.

The same time as the ETF pullback came, CME launched Cardano futures on February 9, 2026. The six-month regulated trading window required under the SEC's generic listing standards wrapped up around August 9.

That clears a key hurdle for exchanges to eventually pursue spot ADA products, though eligibility is not the same as approval.

Cardano ADA Price Today: Current Numbers With August 2026 Forecast

$ADA price action today stayed calm despite the headlines, as per CoinMarketCap data:

Cardano ADA price

  • Price: $0.1956, down 0.57% over 24 hours

  • Market cap: $7.14 billion

  • 24-hour volume: $205.81 million, down 2.94%

  • Fully diluted valuation: $8.8 billion

  • Circulating supply: 36.55 billion $ADA

  • Total supply: 44.99 billion, max supply 45 billion $ADA

The network's DRep, Will Norris, asked publicly whether ADA price could reach $0.25 before the end of August, a level roughly 28% above current trading.

No forecast can be confirmed from a single post, but it reflects the kind of price target traders are weighing following the recent recovery towards the $0.19 range, and upcoming updates.

Cardano Upgrades 2026: Ouroboros Leios And The Dijkstra Era

On the protocol side, the platform's roadmap continues moving through network upgrades. On July 18, the network completed its van Rossem hard fork, moving the protocol to Version 11 and improving Plutus smart contract performance, ledger consistency, and node security.

Attention has now shifted fully to the Dijkstra era, the network's next major development stage.

Unlike a single hard fork, Dijkstra is being rolled out in stages. The first two phases center on:

  • Nested Transactions, a method for bundling transactions inside one another to cut network load

  • Linear Leios, a streamlined version of the broader Ouroboros Leios research program built to boost throughput without weakening decentralization.

The node team has set a public target of shipping Nested Transactions and Linear Leios to mainnet before the end of 2026.

$ADA price already reacted to the momentum, climbing back above the $0.20 level earlier this month, though it has since pulled back toward current levels near $0.1956.

In The End of the Cardano ADA News

Cardano ADA news today ties together a leadership change, a paused ETF path, and real technical progress, three signals that rarely move at once.

The CTO transition looks orderly, the ETF setback looks temporary rather than final, and the Dijkstra-era upgrades keep the long-term roadmap on track.

The next real test comes once a spot ADA product actually reaches the market, and once Ouroboros Leios delivers measurable throughput gains rather than just a name on a roadmap.
