Category Labs, the developer behind the Monad blockchain, has published the white paper for Monad Private Settlement, a design that would give banks and companies private execution spaces on @monad ($MON). The paper was released by @category_xyz.

Under the design, transactions are encrypted and ordered on the public Monad chain, then run by operators that each private space selects. Balances and trades stay hidden from outsiders.

How the Private Settlement Design Works

Contracts in separate private spaces can still send messages to one another and to the public chain. This lets them share liquidity rather than splitting it across closed networks. Owners decide who can read their data, such as auditors or regulators.

The setup runs on smart contracts and does not require changes to Monad itself. Each domain is a confidential execution environment switched on by a standard EVM smart contract, a "hub", deployed on the Monad L1, so no fork or protocol change is needed , according to a Category Labs institutional synopsis dated September 2026, as reported by Memeburn.

Monad's own announcement says the Monad network provides sequencing, ordering, and state settlement for every domain, so domains inherit the accountability of the public network. It also notes that a token transfer between domains shows neither the account addresses nor the amounts publicly.

Category Labs has pointed to use cases such as corporate treasuries, with payroll, supplier payments and treasury movements kept private, with audit and governance controls. Memeburn reports that the company is also targeting banks with tokenized deposits, asset managers with tokenized funds, and OTC desks that need private positions.

Still a Design, Not a Live Product

The project is at an early stage. Monad Private Settlement is a published design and is not yet live. Category Labs is working with early design partners and operators. Memeburn notes that no design partners have been named. Startup Fortune reports that Category Labs has not published a launch date, contract address or audited production deployment.

The design was first introduced on October 6, 2026. Category Labs used the first OPEN conference in Singapore to reveal it. Memeburn also notes that Monad already offers user-level privacy through Unlink, a zero-knowledge contract, whereas Private Settlement would make entire execution environments private.

Crypto Briefing's analysis says the key point for investors is that both initiatives remain roadmaps and designs rather than finished products. It lists what to watch next: whether the design moves toward deployment, and whether Monad's total value locked and validator count grow.
