@Chainlink has announced a strategic partnership with Hanwha Investment & Securities, a South Korean financial firm, to support a global platform for tokenizing real-world assets (RWAs). The news was revealed at the Link:NYC event, and it adds another institutional name to the ecosystem behind $LINK.

Hanwha Investment & Securities is a financial affiliate of Hanwha, a Fortune Global 500 company. It is adopting the Chainlink data standard and Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP) as the official data and interoperability infrastructure of its platform.

Within the tokenization platform, Chainlink is providing trusted pricing and net asset value (NAV) data for the assets issued, while CCIP enables those assets and liquidity to move securely across public and private blockchains.Hanwha also plans to provide an environment where assets can be transferred through a single connection, without building separate integrations for each network, according to Korea's Financial News.

The partnership also includes a research component. Hanwha and Chainlink are forming a working group to examine institutional onchain use cases, compliance and custody requirements, real-world asset valuation and reserve verification, and collateral standards.Chainlink will also provide dedicated technical support to the platform and prioritize the rollout of new solutions.

Hanwha Investment & Securities is in discussions with global asset managers and issuers on tokenizing and distributing a range of RWA products, and plans to bring these assets to institutional investors and onchain markets via Chainlink.

Early Stage, With Open Questions

The project is still in development. TokenPost noted that the announcement names no assets or issuers and gives no platform launch date.It also did not say whether the platform will require use of the LINK token, prompt purchases of it or create demand for it. The partnership therefore points to growing institutional use of Chainlink's data and interoperability tools, but it does not by itself show an effect on token demand.

Insung An, Chief Digital Officer at Hanwha Investment & Securities, said Chainlink is the firm's key global strategic partner and that its standards at the core of the platform provide a stable and trusted technology foundation.

Chainlink's wider Link:NYC announcements included adoption by S&P Global Ratings and LG CNS, according to the company's event recap.
