@chainlink finished runner-up in the 2026 Swift Hackathon Business Challenge with a demonstration that automated cash dividend payments on tokenized shares across four separate blockchains, with no manual steps required throughout the process.
How the System Works
The entry used Swift's standard banking messaging formats to initiate each payment. Before any funds moved, the system checked every recipient wallet against sanctions lists and applied the relevant tax rules, then settled each holder in either stablecoins or tokenized deposits, depending on their eligibility. The end-to-end process removed the manual handoffs that typically slow corporate actions in traditional finance.
The multi-chain design addresses a real structural problem in tokenized markets. Tokenized assets do not live on one network. If an issuer puts the same equity token on several chains, every holder needs to get paid correctly, no matter where their token sits. Chainlink's approach attempts to resolve that fragmentation at the payment layer.
A Strong Track Record With Swift
The runner-up finish follows an outright win at the prior year's competition. The oracle network won the 2025 Swift Hackathon Business Challenge from a record field of 104 participants. That winning entry tackled compliant cross-border and cross-chain settlement of digital assets, combining Chainlink's Automated Compliance Engine (ACE) and its Runtime Environment (CRE) with GLEIF's verifiable Legal Entity Identifier framework and Swift messaging.
In the 2026 edition, @swiftcommunity named @chainlink runner-up in the Business Challenge. Standard Chartered took first place with a solution built around tokenized trade invoices. The result keeps Chainlink among the finalists at Swift's annual competition for a second consecutive year, reinforcing its position as a recurring presence where traditional financial infrastructure meets blockchain technology.
Corporate actions, a category covering dividends, mergers, stock splits, and other events that companies inflict on shareholders, costs the global financial industry an estimated $58 billion per year. Automating even part of that process across multiple chains would represent a meaningful efficiency gain for institutions managing tokenized equity portfolios.
