681 Large Transactions in a Single Day
Chainlink (@chainlink) recorded a notable spike in large-holder activity on Oct. 8, 2026. According to on-chain analytics firm Santiment, the network logged 681 transactions worth at least $100,000 in a single day, marking the highest daily total of 2026 and the most since Nov. 19, 2025.
The figure is a meaningful step up from earlier peaks this year. For context, a prior surge in August had drawn attention when Santiment recorded 246 such transactions in a single day, which was itself described at the time as a five-month high.
What the Data Does and Does Not Show
A surge in whale-sized transactions can reflect either aggressive buying or large-scale selling, and Santiment's count does not distinguish between the two. That ambiguity is worth keeping in mind. The metric identifies abnormally high activity, not the direction of every transfer.
The broader on-chain picture heading into October has been more nuanced. Chainlink ETFs recorded zero net flows on Oct. 7, while technical indicators continued to weigh on the $LINK price. TradingView's four-hour chart showed Chaikin Money Flow at -0.14, with MACD standing at -0.270, below its signal line, pointing to selling pressure.
Despite the uncertainty, Chainlink's network has continued to expand its institutional footprint. CCIP 2.0, introduced on Sept. 28, lets institutions add their own verifiers on top of Chainlink's default 16-operator network, adding built-in compliance controls and faster settlement options. The protocol currently secures more than $84 billion in cross-chain token value, according to Chainlink.
Whether the Oct. 8 transaction spike represents accumulation or distribution, it confirms that large holders are paying close attention to $LINK at current levels. Traders and investors will likely watch for follow-through in price and volume to determine which way that activity is skewed.
