Cilinix Crypto, a prominent YouTube channel focused on digital asset market analysis, has identified persistent challenges for Stellar‘s token XLM despite the blockchain’s improving fundamentals. The analyst stated that XLM’s long-term trajectory remains intact, but current market conditions suggest the cryptocurrency could remain range-bound in the short term after recent optimism around the Clarity Act faded.

Clarity Act momentum fades for Stellar

The analysis highlighted that renewed speculation over the proposed Clarity Act had been the primary driver of recent upward moves for XLM. This piece of legislation, originally seen as a significant step in providing clearer regulatory guidelines for digital assets in the US, sparked brief momentum for Stellar.

However, shifting outlooks among Senate Democrats have diminished hopes for swift passage or immediate regulatory clarity. As optimism cooled, the likelihood of a policy breakthrough in the near future appeared slim.

XLM continues to face strong resistance near $0.195, even as trading volumes have risen and the initial excitement over the Clarity Act has subsided due to changing Senate sentiment.

XLM has repeatedly struggled to break above major resistance levels around $0.195, according to Cilinix Crypto. Despite a recent uptick in trading activity, the absence of firm regulatory or market catalysts leaves the analyst’s base case tilted toward a near-term rejection from these price levels rather than a sustainable rally.

Network fundamentals show growth

Cilinix Crypto pointed to several network indicators supporting Stellar’s broader fundamentals, even as the token consolidates. Total value locked (TVL) on the Stellar network reportedly climbed from around $160 million at the start of the year to $250 million as of June, while most crypto markets faced pressure.

Stellar’s stablecoin market capitalization has expanded significantly, rising from $200 million to nearly $1 billion in 2024. Decentralized exchange volumes, although weaker earlier in the year, have recently begun to recover. Still, these positive trends have yet to spark a decisive breakout for XLM, which remains within a consolidation range set since July, with support near $0.17 and resistance between $0.195 and $0.205.

Technical pressures and derivatives position risks

The analyst also expressed concern over derivatives market positioning. Leverage for XLM has increased, yet funding rates remain positive. Historically, positive funding rates coinciding with ongoing spot selling have resulted in limited upside for Stellar. Market structure may favor range-bound price action rather than a decisive break upward, even as short positions accumulate.

Potential upside targets cited include $0.22, $0.225, and $0.238 if XLM manages to push above $0.195 on renewed catalyst-driven momentum. However, the likelihood of such a move appears limited without major policy developments, such as progress on the Clarity Act.

The analyst stated that, absent new market catalysts, XLM may test support near $0.17 or $0.165 before longer-term growth drivers come back into focus.

Cilinix Crypto indicated a preference for waiting for a pullback to stronger support before considering XLM for fresh upside, underscoring the current disconnect between improving network fundamentals and short-term technical hurdles.
