Stand With Crypto, the Coinbase-backed advocacy group, has announced a bipartisan slate of endorsements across several Senate and House races ahead of November's midterm elections. The move comes roughly two weeks after the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act, widely known as the CLARITY Act, collapsed in the Senate on a procedural vote.

Who Stand With Crypto Is Backing

The advocacy group backed Republican Jon Husted of Ohio, Republican Ashley Hinson of Iowa, and Democrat Chris Pappas of New Hampshire for Senate seats.Besides the Senate seats, the group said it had also endorsed several House of Representatives candidates, including Republican Mariannette Miller-Meeks in Iowa and Democrat Shomari Figures in Alabama.

Stand With Crypto said candidate positions on crypto policy determined its endorsements "regardless of party."It noted that Husted was a "proven pro-crypto lawmaker" and that his vote in favour of the CLARITY Act was why he received the endorsement.

Husted is defending an Ohio Senate seat against Democrat Sherrod Brown.Coinbase, Ripple Labs, and Andreessen Horowitz back the Fairshake PAC, which had pledged to initially spend $30 million in support of Husted in Ohio.

The group's picks come as many polls show Democrats favored to regain control of the House and Senate in 2027. Stand With Crypto had already endorsed 32 House candidates in August whom it called "proven digital asset policy champions."

The CLARITY Act's Senate Collapse

On September 15, 2026, a cloture vote in the US Senate failed on the CLARITY Act. The failed cloture vote means the Senate did not obtain the 60 votes needed to end a filibuster, effectively shelving the bill in the near term.

The core of the bill, splitting oversight of digital assets between the SEC and the CFTC, was not the problem. The dispute centred on ethics language governing officials' crypto holdings. Democrats argued the draft did not effectively cover the president and his family, while Republicans pointed to more than 100 revisions they said had been made at Democrats' request.

A shift in majority control in either chamber of Congress could change how lawmakers approach bills such as the CLARITY Act.After the failed September 15 vote, Stand With Crypto warned of consequences for lawmakers who did not back the bill. The midterm endorsements appear to be the first concrete step in that strategy.
