Senator Cynthia Lummis released an official statement following the Senate’s decision to push the CLARITY Act voting to September. She acknowledged the frustration openly. “You all know me and how long and hard I’ve fought for this bill, so you can imagine how frustrated I am,” she said.
Lummis did not stop there. She made clear she has no intention of stepping back. “We’ve come too far to quit now,” she said, adding that she will not give up because she believes the industry deserves to thrive with clear rules in the U.S., and many in the XRP army share that view.
Her statement covered three areas she sees as central to the bill’s purpose. She cited consumer protection from scams, confidence in the digital economy, and giving law enforcement the tools to hold bad actors accountable. She has constantly reiterated that the CLARITY Act is ready. In her view, the bill is the only legislation that achieves all three.
“The status quo fails on every level,” she said, “and I will not stop fighting until we fix this broken system.”

The CLARITY Act currently holds 51 confirmed Senate votes and needs 60 to advance. Senate Majority Leader John Thune confirmed the delay and said leadership plans to have the bill ready when senators return from recess in September.
The bill has sat on the Senate Legislative Calendar since June 1. One provision has kept it from advancing. Democrats want state attorneys general to hold authority over DOJ ethics enforcement. The White House and Republicans both rejected that position, and negotiators ran out of time before recess.
Lummis closed her statement in a commitment to continue working with her colleagues. “This fight is far from over,” she said. That commitment is notable given the tight legislative calendar ahead. September represents the next realistic window for the vote.

Lummis has previously warned that failing to pass the bill in the current session could push meaningful crypto regulation to 2030. Her statement does not walk that concern back. It reinforces her determination to prevent that outcome.
XRP holders have watched this bill from the beginning, and the delay did not sit well with many. The bill has strong support from the Republican side.
While all votes are not confirmed, recent reports suggest 7 to 10 Democrats support the bill. That support needs to hold when the Senate reconvenes. Lummis has made her position clear. She sees the CLARITY Act as essential, and she intends to keep pushing until it passes.
