The largest U.S. based cryptocurrency exchange, Coinbase has completed its integration with Deribit, bringing the two platforms together as Coinbase Global Exchange and creating a single trading infrastructure for spot, perpetuals, dated futures and options.
Coinbase announced the development on October 7, saying the combined platform will connect U.S. and international crypto derivatives markets through a single regulated liquidity pool. The integration gives traders access to liquidity tied to more than $30 billion in Bitcoin options open interest, based on figures as of September 30. Deribit also processed more than $1 trillion in trading volume over the past year, according to Coinbase.
The integration follows Coinbase’s acquisition of Deribit, which was completed in August 2025. Rather than operating the two derivatives businesses separately, Coinbase has now moved to combine their infrastructure and liquidity.
Coinbase said the new platform will begin rolling out Deribit-powered options, spot margin and unified portfolios in the coming weeks. The company is also introducing cross-portfolio risk modeling and multi-asset margin offsets, allowing eligible traders to manage different positions within the same portfolio.
Deribit Brings Options and Deeper Liquidity to Coinbase
The integration was completed on October 1, 2026, with Coinbase International Exchange’s derivatives infrastructure consolidated onto Deribit’s platform. Deribit’s new matching engine is now powering the combined system, which Coinbase says is designed for faster and more scalable execution.
Existing Deribit users will also gain access to more than 125 additional perpetual contracts, including contracts linked to equities and commodities. Spot orders on Deribit are now routed through Coinbase Exchange, expanding access to Coinbase’s spot markets.
For U.S. institutional clients, Coinbase said crypto options will become available through Coinbase Prime, subject to eligibility. The company received CFTC guidance in May allowing Coinbase Financial Markets to connect U.S. clients with global crypto derivatives liquidity, including options and perpetual futures.
Coinbase also said Coinbase Pro will return by the end of 2026, offering spot, futures, perpetuals, options and equities on a professional trading platform.
