Cronos (@CronosNetwork) Labs has outlined a new strategy to reduce the circulating supply of $CRO by connecting revenue from two upcoming products directly to open-market token purchases and burns, pending a community governance vote.
Two New Products, One Revenue Engine
The plan centres on Cronos Launch and Ult, a pair of products set to open within days of each other. Cronos Launch goes live on September 16 as a launchpad for new tokens built on the Cronos network. Ult follows on September 17 with a multi-asset trading application covering a range of financial instruments.
Under the proposed strategy, revenue generated by both products would be used to fund monthly $CRO purchases on the open market. Cronos Labs CEO Ryan Wyatt has indicated the team intends to direct 100% of app revenue toward a buyback-and-burn mechanism, part of a broader shift away from an inflation-driven model toward one funded by real product activity.
If governance approves the plan, purchased tokens would be burned, permanently removing them from circulation. The community vote is scheduled for September 18, giving token holders a direct say in whether the new tokenomics framework moves forward.
Ecosystem Support Remains Part of the Plan
Beyond the two new products, the strategy also includes continued backing for VVS Finance, the leading decentralised exchange on the Cronos network, along with ongoing support for builders developing within the Cronos ecosystem. This signals that Labs intends the supply-reduction mechanism to run alongside, rather than replace, its existing ecosystem commitments.
The proposal reflects a wider effort by Cronos Labs to move the network's economic model onto a more sustainable footing, one where token demand is driven by product usage rather than emissions.
