Emirates Adds Crypto.com Pay to Its Booking Channels
@Emirates airlines has officially launched @Cryptocom Pay on its website and mobile app, giving eligible UAE residents the ability to pay for flights using supported digital assets. The integration went live on 28 July 2026, allowing customers to use the digital payment solution directly on emirates.com and the Emirates App.The move makes Emirates the first major Gulf airline to accept cryptocurrency payments for flight bookings.
The launch is the delivery of a memorandum of understanding signed between Emirates and Crypto.com in July 2025, under which the two companies agreed to explore integrating Crypto.com Pay into the airline's digital payment systems. The integration is powered by Crypto.com's Dubai entity, which has been granted a Stored Value Facilities (SVF) licence by the Central Bank of the UAE, making it the first Virtual Asset Service Provider to hold such a licence.
Customers with a Crypto.com account can select Crypto.com Pay at checkout when booking on the Emirates website or app. The service is available to eligible UAE residents for bookings priced and settled in Emirati Dirham (AED).Customers booking via the app are redirected to the Crypto.com app to complete payment from their wallet, then returned to the Emirates App to receive their booking confirmation and e-ticket.
The integration supports $SHIB alongside 29 other cryptocurrencies, marking another real-world utility milestone for the dog-themed token. For the @Shibatoken ecosystem, being included in the payment suite of one of the world's most recognised airlines represents a meaningful step beyond speculative trading.
The launch aligns with the Dubai Cashless Strategy, part of the D33 Economic Agenda, which targets 90% of financial transactions across Dubai's government and private sectors being conducted digitally by the end of 2026.The rollout also reflects the UAE's increasingly defined regulatory framework for digital assets.
