Crypto Token Unlocks in August 2026: YZY, PROVE and KAITO Lead More Than $323 Million in Scheduled Releases
CryptoCompass editorial visual for markets coverage.

More than $323.23 million worth of cryptocurrency tokens are scheduled to enter circulation across August 2026, spanning 141 blockchain projects, extending a third straight month of decline from July’s $376.39 million and June’s $580.33 million. The month’s releases are led by YZY, PROVE, and KAITO, with YZY alone accounting for close to $35.5 million in scheduled unlocks. As new tokens become transferable, market participants will be watching whether the additional supply affects liquidity and short-term price action across the affected assets.

The scheduled releases come as investors continue to monitor token emissions closely following several high-profile vesting events earlier this year. Although token unlocks increase circulating supply, analysts generally view them as one component of a project’s tokenomics rather than a standalone indicator of future price performance. Whether newly unlocked tokens enter the market immediately depends on the recipients, vesting structure, and broader market conditions.

YZY, PROVE and KAITO dominate this month’s unlock schedule

YZY is set to record the largest scheduled release of the month, with approximately $35.49 million worth of tokens becoming available against a $38.18 million market cap, a 93% ratio, with 52.9% of supply already released. Roughly 70% of YZY’s total supply is allocated to Yeezy Investments LLC, the entity linked to Kanye West.

The second-largest scheduled unlock belongs to PROVE, with $34.94 million in planned releases against a market cap of just $32.71 million, meaning this single unlock is worth more than the token’s entire current valuation. With only 20.0% of supply released, this is one of the earliest-stage large unlocks this month.

KAITO ranks third with an unlock worth $34.68 million against a $257.30 million market cap (13.5%), followed by HYPE ($22.76 million), ZRO ($19.01 million), H ($16.84 million), CONX ($16.58 million), and AVAX ($10.65 million).

Together, these projects account for the overwhelming majority of this month’s scheduled unlock value.

Note on HYPE’s figure: the $22.76 million represents the amount the team has actually committed to claim, not the original whitepaper-scheduled estimate of $521.32 million. Teams often adjust the claimed amount before an unlock date, and this gap is unusually wide.

Why circulating supply matters more than unlock value

While headline unlock values often attract the most attention, professional investors frequently compare each release against the token’s existing circulating supply and market capitalization.

Several projects this month, including NTX (97.7% released), DCK (97.6%), TRIBL (97.6%), DCB (95.6%), and YGG (94.6%), have already distributed most of their token supply. Additional unlocks for these assets carry a smaller dilution effect than similarly sized releases from earlier-stage projects.

By contrast, projects such as AA (6.4% released), MMT (7.1%), ACS (11.4%), CYPR (12.0%), and PROVE (20.0%) remain early in their vesting cycles, meaning future scheduled emissions could continue increasing circulating supply over the coming months.

What traders will watch this month

Rather than reacting solely to the value of an unlock, market participants are expected to monitor several factors that have historically influenced post-unlock price action:

  • The size of the unlock relative to circulating supply.
  • Daily trading volume and available market liquidity.
  • The destination of unlocked allocations, including investors, core contributors, or ecosystem funds.
  • Overall crypto market sentiment during the vesting period.

Historical token unlocks have shown that many scheduled releases are anticipated well in advance, allowing markets to price in part of the expected supply increase before the unlock date arrives. As a result, actual trading activity after the release often provides a clearer signal than the unlock announcement itself.

With YZY, PROVE and KAITO leading this month’s vesting calendar, investors are likely to watch whether the additional supply is absorbed by market demand or contributes to short-term volatility across the broader digital asset market.
