Deribit's podcast returns to TOKEN2049, this time with Coinbase behind it
CryptoCompass editorial visual for markets coverage.

In April 2025, Deribit, the world's largest crypto options and futures exchange, brought its flagship podcast, Crypto Options Unplugged, to TOKEN2049 Dubai.

Billed as "34 Guests, 34 Insights," the series recorded live at a Palm Jumeirah beach club with names like BlackRock's Robert Mitchnick, Ethena's Guy Young, Dragonfly's Rob Hadick, and Wintermute.

Episodes rolled out over the following weeks on YouTube, X, and LinkedIn, drawing attention from institutional traders and retail audiences alike.

Now the series is back, bigger, and with a new partner behind it.

Coinbase House, 57 floors up

For TOKEN2049 Singapore on October 7–8, 2026, Crypto Options Unplugged will record live at Spago, Coinbase House, on the 57th floor of Marina Bay Sands.

Hosts Imran Lakha and David Brickell return, this time joined by Colin Basco from Coinbase Institutional Research.

The rooftop setting uses the Singapore skyline as its backdrop, with around nine recording slots planned across both days.

This is the first TOKEN2049 edition since Coinbase completed its acquisition of Deribit, and the podcast serves as a natural vehicle to tell that story.

The integration brings spot, futures, perpetuals, and options, crypto derivatives that let traders bet on price movements or hedge risk, under one platform with a unified collateral pool.

Rather than Coinbase making that pitch directly, the format lets institutional guests speak to it in their own words.

A heavyweight institutional guest list

Twenty-five guests are confirmed so far, spanning hedge funds, market makers, asset managers, and protocol founders.

Raoul Pal, Co-Founder and CEO of Real Vision, and Arthur Hayes, CIO of Maelstrom, headline the roster.

From traditional finance, the lineup includes Geoffrey Kendrick of Standard Chartered, Robert Mitchnick of BlackRock, returning from the Dubai edition, Seth Ginns of Franklin Templeton, and Dan Tapiero of 50T Funds.

On the trading and market-making side, confirmed guests include Yoann Turpin of Wintermute, representatives from GSR, FalconX, and Marex Solutions, along with Shiliang Tang of Monarq Asset Management and Anna Dinescu of Hilbert Group.

Protocol founders and crypto-native leaders on the list include Guy Young of Ethena, Rob Hadick of Dragonfly, Alex Svanevik of Nansen, and representatives from Galaxy, Ripple Prime, and Maple Finance.

Several names, Mitchnick, Young, Hadick, and Wintermute among them, appeared on the Dubai edition as well, signaling the kind of repeat institutional buy-in that gives a podcast series staying power.

What they'll talk about

The conversations are organized around six themes. Macro-focused sessions will unpack how Fed policy, interest rates, inflation, and foreign exchange movements are shaping crypto options flow heading into Q4.

Market structure episodes will dig into liquidity dynamics, Deribit currently holds over $31 billion in Bitcoin options open interest and commands roughly 75% market share in crypto options, according to the company.

Dedicated segments will cover options strategy deep-dives, the bread and butter of hosts Lakha and Brickell, as well as growing institutional demand across the Asia-Pacific region, tailored specifically to the Singapore and APAC audience.

The integration of Coinbase and Deribit into a single platform with unified collateral and risk management will also feature prominently, with guests offering their own perspective on what that consolidation means for institutional trading infrastructure.

Episodes will begin releasing in the weeks following the event across YouTube, X, and LinkedIn.
